Looks good Lew. Where did you get the decals for the build?

The decals were hand drawn, then copier made for the PLC DIRECT and the "john miller". the rest kit decals. The checker board and the red are paint, YES PAINT! I remember it taking a long time to mask. Thanks for asking, I have other cars to do, many projects in the works, but I'm glad I found this site for my road race cars.

The "PLC DIRECT" overlaps the red stripes and blue. Did you print white decals, or are you being modest about your masking skills (which are, indeed, amazing)? --Frank

Hi Frank and anyone interested, first of all this car was made several years ago and things have changed a bit in copier made decals. At the time I didn't have my own copier, too expensive. Also color was not readily available. No laser etc. I read a article by Burl Burlingame in fine scale modeler in the early 80's "MAKING YOUR OWN DECALS" This was my Bible for many years. FSM was (and still is) for military, ships and planes mostly, and a few cars. The article dealt WW1 planes but was useful for any decals. I was using a black ink only copier so I did the artwork freehand. I will paraphrase from the article. Make two copies on clear decal film. With one, apply it to white decal film, let it dry. With a sharp knife cut the image out on the line. When you apply it the clear should separate and only apply the white. Then use the second to hide the border of the first image. I like doing my own decals and have done so for years,of course with the advent of modern copiers you can make your own decals much easier these days. I hope this helps.
