Have you ever been going through boxes of models and come across something you forgot about? WELL.... The windows are missing and some parts have come unglued but I am going to try to complete this one. Some of you may not remember the FAST MASTER races. Some smart guy said "I know, we'll get the greats of motor racing, drag racers, open wheel, sports cars, stock cars, ETC. and we will give them super expensive, super cars and put them at IRP What could go wrong?" WELL..... I got another kit from EBAY. When it arrives I'll have the missing windshield and other missing parts and finely complete this one, a model I started back in 1993.

Nice! WOW! Expensive demolition derby! This was about a month before Davey Allison's fatal helicopter crash. Don't rush it! I have some stalled projects from that era and older as well Thanks, Ismael

Thanks Ismael, Fast Masters was a great idea, but WOW is right! I forgot about Davey being there until I was looking the youtube up last night. Such a shame. This was altogether at one point but being jumbled around for almost 30 years has taken it's toll. I don't think it will be to much of a problem getting it back together. I may do another one now that my skills have improved. I have some more havoline decals, nascar for the fenders and cart (NEWMAN-HAAS) decals for the hood. I'll post updates when done. Thanks....take care....Lew

Great project. Never heard of "Fast Masters" but its not the first time expensive sport cars were used in an event like this.

Nice! WOW! Expensive demolition derby! That's why the press dubbed it "Crash Masters". Mike

Thanks J.C., I remember IROC but not that early. It was great seeing it from the early 70's I knew about the Porsche's but never saw them in action, till now. I remember the Camaro's and Dodge's. I think there were other marks too. I saw many IROC races in the 90's and saw Dale Earnhardt Sr. push a camera out of his face when he came into the pits at Michigan International Speedway. He had spun out and wanted to get back in the fight after changing the tires.I was about 10 FT. away when all that went down. Fast Masters was supposed to go on for years but they pulled the plug after the first season. At the time the promoters were horrified at the thought of crashing such expensive cars! My question is what the hell did they think was going to happen! take care ...Lew

IROC makes a lot of sense. But Fast Masters? Well, For the price of one of the Jags you could get a fleet of Porsche 924s or Miatas Not sure the marketing value of using expensive exotics was justified. At least they did not wreck Ferraris or Lambos Thanks, Ismael

You had to be 50 years + if I remember right, I think that's where they got "MASTERS" from. The 220 is what these car could do, 220 mph, at the time the fastest production car in the world.

I remember watching the FastMasters races. Watched them on TNN or some such network. I recall a race at, I think, Charlotte. I recall a friend afterward using the phrase "That'll buff out!". Interesting model.
