I just finished this project. It is a slot car, but I hope you will enjoy it nevertheless :-) Body is in clear plastic material and decalled and painted from the inside. It is a repop of a 60's Lancer Slot Car Body. Lancer made some of the best (and correct) slot car bodies in the world and actually sponsored the 1:1 car :-) Driver insert, wheel inserts and decals are all made by me. The driver head is "jim Clark" from Immense Miniatures. The chassis is scratchbuilt by me in brass rod and tubes with a period brass motor bracket. The motor is also scratchbuilt from period parts. My goal was to recreate a ca. 1967 slot car that could be used for racing. You can find more details on my blog: Neckcheese BlogNiels, DK

Very nice! Coincidentally, I just finished reading this book and it featured several photos of the car. As I recall, it was one of the few Ford powered Can Am cars.

Very Nice Neils, The owner of Lancer, ( Lloyd Asbury?) his name escapes me now was very good friends with my Dad (Santa Ana Raceways) along with Jim Russell owner of Russkit, they were all very excited to have sponsorship on these cars.. each year the Can Am race at RIR was right around the same time as my birthday so You can guess what I asked for for my Birthday!! Riverside Can Am tickets!! Chris

Riverside Can Am tickets!! Chris It seems to my memory that Lancer was in North Hollywood. So were a number of other slot car companies in the San Fernando Valley in the 60s. Your birthday must be real close to mine Chris. Mine is October 26th. The Times Grand Prix was always in October, usually the last weekend like my birthday. I always went to the Times GP anyway, since the family were officials for Cal Club, region of SCCA. Like Dan Gurney, Skip Hudson was from Riverside. They both became world class drivers racing in Can Am, USRRC, FIA world sports car competition, NASCAR, and Skip even tried to qualify for Indy.

HI Richard, mine is the 30th, how many times can Ya go to Dizeyland anyway ? Always went the races particularly if Dad was working on Gurneys Can Am crew...dont forget Dan was a Drag Racer and even a Bonneville LSR driver to start!!! Back the it took maybe 20 minutes to drive from North Hollywood to Santa Ana!!! Now 2 hours!!! Chris

Wallllll....I don't think it EVER took 20 minutes to drive THAT far except when Gurney was racing the Cannonball Run. It was 90 miles from our home in Sylmar to Riverside Raceway and 13 miles to North Hollywood. And NoHo isn't far out of the way down the 5 to the 10 (or later the 60) to go east to Riverside. So it was still a fur piece to drive. My dad was a SoCal hot rodder who got into road racers too like Dan Gurney and told me about one of the 1st times Dan drove a road race car, which was Tony Parravano's Ferrari. It was a test session at Willow Springs. The hookup I was told was through Frank Arciero at a time when my dad was working for Parravano. I was little and don't remember a whole lot of such details from the time.
