Another project built from a junker Monogram kit. This time, The Sizzler. This model, the Cook and Bedwell, and the next to be posted (Long John) were built from junkers, because none of these had been re-released, at the time I acquired or built them (obviously, the Sizzler still hasn't been.). This one is built as a generic dragster from the late fifties.

I like the mooneyes on the fuel tank. Interesting how the early dragsters had fairly short wheelbases.

The growing wheelbases of dragsters was a process of evolution. Similar to off road race buggies. They too started out very short then grew longer with time.
One cool fact that ties this thread and this model into what started out as a road race model forum is that Mooneyes decal on the fuel tank is accurate in that So Cal hot rodder Dean Moon was the 1st vendor of such spun aluminum fuel tanks for race cars, hot rods, boats and other types of motorsports. Then later, an AC Ace was fitted with a Ford V8 in Dean Moon's shop to become the 1st Shelby Cobra and set the sports car and road race worlds on their ears. Dean Moon's company was involved in many types of motorsports.
