The last step on any model I built during the '70's was to build a clear case from acrylic sheet, (working in 1/25), then the price of acrylic sheet began to double! It's cheaper now to use Beanie Baby cases (but you'd need to find one HUGE Beanie Baby for a 1/8th model). I used to use half-inch plywood, covered with contact paper to give the case a "classic" look! Used brass screws to hold the case and base together. Your case came out nice!

I've built them out of acrylic too. But not often. This is one I made for the 1/24 Toyota Celica Group 5 model I built to sit on my dad's desk at the Toyota US headquarters back when the car was still racing. Dad had been responsible for the technical side of Toyota US racing activities. Not the marketing side of it. The model is from a Tilt kit, built mostly box stock. That was nearly 40 years ago now.
