Thanks chaps! What a choice! I need to order some paint and have them sit in front of me for a while. I was toying with Tamiya TS-51 Racing Blue with a light coat of Tamiya AS8 US Navy Blue to knock it back a bit.
Will have to experiment!

Great stuff, Martin! I had a feeling you weren't just sitting around doing nothing! I didn't think that the pipes in the KA upgrade were too bad. I have seen some complaints that they were bent in shipping but mine seems to have survived. I would use them again although the supplied kit collectors have a brace that puts them in the exactly correct position, something missing on the KA collectors. I think it really affects the fit. Martin, if you could check your messages please, I have a note in there about the KA pipes. Even if you are in AU, I'm interested. It will be a while before I take on that second kit. Also, I used Tamiya pearl blue for my chassis color. Don't know why but it looks okay. Looks great as usual! Ha ha, it does feel that way. I've spent MANY hours on this kit with very little progress to show, but now some of it is coming together. If I could find a better way of testing the KA pipes in location I think I could have got them to work and spent the time creating a nice finish, but overall the kit ones seemed a better option. I'm really not keen on the White Metal as a material. Like I mentioned in my post, my cross member piece actually interferes with two of the pipes slightly, so I should have spent more time test fitting, even though it is incredibly fiddly. I'm very glad the kit collectors were joined and provided a defined location as that removed a lot of guess work and helped me decide the use the kit pipes as I had more confidence they would fit. There are a couple of tweaks (using hot water/heat) I would have liked to have made to a couple of pipes to make it all perfect, but I think I stopped before it all got out of hand. I did look at the blue range of the Tamiya colours (as readily available to me) but don't remember the Pearl Blue... I didn't realise/remember that is the one you used. I'll add that to my 'Possible' list as yours looks fine. To be honest, I love the SMS paints as they spray so well, so was probably swayed to their colour anyway!

I'm using the rattle can pearl blue. Just went through your build log again and I do like that blue.... Will I ever just make a decision and stick to it?!

Initial 'test' coat of primer removed and some weld detail added with CA. Will add more and hopefully have them painted and installed this week...

Nah, just caught in the mire of procrastination and backward-step taking. Had to remove my exhaust system as I just couldn't install my plug wires without damaging them further. I'd managed to break two pipes off the block attempting to manipulate the wiring, so I was on a collision course anyway. I was always in two mind whether I should install the wiring before the headers, but thought I would have play room. Unfortunately that just wasn't the case. The wires I'm using are quite stiff, which didn't make things easy. I now have to strip and repaint the pipes and reinstall. But as I need to paint my exhaust ends and collectors, I can now at least ensure I get a good colour match! Silver linings and all that...

I deleted the photos for space and bandwidth purpose but I do want to caution you to test fit something now that you have the distributor and the wires in place. Put the engine in the cradle and screw it in place with the forward screw (that is all you need to hold it). Then take the back bulkhead for the cockpit (Part C2) and temporarily insert part H28 and then temporarily place that bulkhead in the correct two lots in part C1. I am telling you all this to tell you that you will need to modify part H28 to accommodate the distributor. And the real car had holes in the part H28 to reduce the weight... Let me see if I have a photo... You can see the modifications that allow the distributor to fit. It won't do anything to the structure.... I've got lots of other tips is you are using the KA upgrade! Glad you are still here!

Thanks for the warning, Patrick.
To be honest, I wasn't too sure whether I was even going to install the H28 plate at all. I've seen a few engine bay photos without that 'shelf' in place, or at least looking much more shaped that the supplied flat plate. but I will research a little more before I decide fully, but whatever happens I will be making my own. Definitely a case of test fit, test fit, test fit...

Martin, Your detailing looks exacting, but could you please explain exactly what it is, as I'm not to sure.
