Martin, Your detailing looks exacting, but could you please explain exactly what it is, as I'm not to sure. joel I've taken a hacksaw to the rear-end of the supplied chassis. Building a new substructure more similar to this:

Martin, Thanks for the info. Looking forward to following how your kit's new rear end to the chassis turns out.

Starting to look much better... To make the rear-end look more like below, my engine needs to be slightly tilted or simply lowered. Can't see any reason why that would be a problem for the rest of the build. Anyone know what the device highlighted is? Was it original spec or added for the much later races? Cheers.

It appears to be a 4 pin Battery charging connection, used of course for charging but also to assist Starting. Quite common when you go to Vintage racing now, keeps the battery level at maximum. Since there is no date on the photo I couldnt tell when it was added, but looking through my GT40 files I dont see any original car photos with it in place. Chris

Ah, thanks Chris. Makes perfect sense to be an electrical connection of some sort. I had in it my head that it could be some form of cut-off switch or fill cap - but the position obviously seemed very impractical for either of those.
Simply going by the fact it was unpainted led me to believe it wasn't something original. I'll leave it off.
Thanks.

Martin, The start to the scratched out rear bracket really looks good. To say I'm impressed, is putting it mildly.

Nice looking rebuild of the rear framework. Wish I had access to it prior to this!

Cheers guys.
Well, I've always hated the look of the rear end and especially those tiny hinge pins. They were always going to get replaced with something more substantial!

Cheers guys. Well, I've always hated the look of the rear end and especially those tiny hinge pins. They were always going to get replaced with something more substantial! I need to see if I can beef them up since they are already there... might try drilling them out and replacing with something else. That bears some thought... I wonder if some kind of small rivet around the same diameter would work with a pin inside to give some rigidity across the joint...

I wonder if some kind of small rivet around the same diameter would work with a pin inside to give some rigidity across the joint... There isn't a great deal of material to work with. I think you should leave it if you've gone past this point. It may not even be a problem!

Can you show me where it was supposed to be and where you located it? I just did mine in AlClad and next week it will installed.

So now I am considering doing that part in white (flat) because it is actually a plastic translucent "bottle" on the real item. Wish there was a way to get someone to do a translucent white piece on a 3d printer! (Hint, hint to any of our fine folks here).
And thank you, Martin, for posting that. Does that interfere with the tray under the window?
