Even better, I didn't know there were any left. OMG... the pipes come already assembled! If only that were the case in the 1/12th kits. That was one of the hardest tasks to accomplish!

For what it's worth, I have purchased one, $59.00 CDN ( $46.00 USD at current conversion rates), free shipping. This is direct from China. I normally don't deal with the Chinese, but the kit's made in China so what's the difference. With any luck I'll get it by Christmas.
I'll let you know.

Well, 20 days from date of order, the kit arrived. So far I've only opened it and looked at the contents, but I'm impressed. Very clean, crisp moldings, exceptional detail, looks like a 1/12th kit that's been shrunk. Maybe it is! Time will tell about fit and accuracy but so far I'd put it on a par with Fujimi's best 1/20th F1 kits.
This is what you get:
Also included are decals for the cover car, and the black #2 and gold #5.
Unless I'm going mental (good possibility), missing is the spare wheel and tire and the 2 square "luggage compartments". That can be fixed, not too hard I hope.
Haven't decided what to do with it yet, but for the price looks like a fab kit!!

Upon closer inspection, the luggage boxes do exist, they're molded into the car floor part. A lot is molded in, but it looks hyper accurate.
If any of you have built model warships, this is very familiar in how they've done it. It's excellent quality.

Paul, On my other modeling site, there's one build currently of the Meng kit pure OOB. The kit does look pretty good and the fit is nearly perfect. I asked about the spare tire, and as you said the kit doesn't have one.
I'm still on the fence about buying the kit as I have several of the Fujimi GT40 kits, and I build these days strictly for display.

A photo comparison would be very helpful between the Meng and Fujimi kits

The Fujimi MK2 kit is a one piece body, no inner details, rear hatch doesn't open, so hardly a fair comparison (unless there's another version available that I don't know about?). Probably a very nice curbside if that's what you're into.
The MK1 kit is a better comparison, at least the rear half opens:
I like Fujimi kits, this one is nice, clean castings, seems like an accurate fit, simpler than the Meng but quite workable. You get 2 types of window glass, chrome wheels that you have to strip, no spare of course. The most glaring omission of course is there's no engine!!
That can be cured with this little gem:
Personal taste, but I'd take the Meng, it gives you more and costs you less. Both kits are just begging for some AM photoetch and scratch detailing.
They're also calling "build me", lol.

Paul, I'm sold on the Meng kit now. I've also got both of the Fujimi kits which I'll build as curbside kits as that's what they basically are.
Is the Meng kit sliding right into your build schedule sooner then later, as I can't wait to see you work your magic on it.

Afternoon Fellows, I just bought a 38 ft Chris Craft to live on in "America's Finest City" that needs a LOT of TLC and $$$, so I am thrashing to finish projects and get some more underway. Once I get the boat cabin refinished I will set up a work station as I still want to build. What does this have to do with the Meng Mk II? I just picked a set of decals for Ken Miles Daytona winner and want to rebuild a 1/24 WIXX Holman-Moody Mk II into #98. The WIXX is accurate enough for me and I've always been impressed with it's accuracy. Maybe NOT the Best but I'm running out of time to build models anymore. Also picked up the Revell GT 40 Daytona #73 slot car decals that are wrong font and color but still look cool, 100% accuracy sometimes has to take a backseat, after all, I'm the one to be critical. Thanx for listening. John

Afternoon Fellows, Just received a very trashed out WIXX 1/24 Holman-Moody Ford Mk II 40th anniversary diecast off eBay for a decent price, it was very dirty, missing one side and back window buy otherwise all there. The WIXX Mk II is an excellent source of GT-40 and Mk II parts the seats are Beautiful rubber with great "O" ring grommets, and the engine is great as are almost all the other parts. Does have a nice Spare Tire & Wheel and the white-lettered Firestones are beautiful. You can get a new, in box for under $50.00 of eBay. This is the FIFTH one I have, stripped for other projects and sold the bodies (which are also Very good). I highly recommend it for your Ford GT projects. I have parts for sale cheap to Club members, tell me what you need, I'll send a pic and price. I am attaching a pic of some 1/32 Ford GT 40 Cox and other mfg. decals for sale for $7.50 plus $2.00 shipping in envelope with 1st class postage. Let me know if you want them. Thanx, John

Grandsport, there's already a problem. The Ford GT40MkII had Goodyears and not Firestones.

Grandsport, there's already a problem. The Ford GT40MkII had Goodyears and not Firestones. Um, that's not quite accurate Patrick. The McLaren/Amon car started the race on Firestones, then switched to Goodyears mid race. So it kind of depends which car and how you want to depict it with your build. Either one would be authentic for the #2.

Good point. I was going by what the 1/12th kit(s) provide and they are very clearly Goodyears. Thanks for the correction. I think I was mislead by the notes about the #1 car in grandsport3's post.
