Well guys, it was going well. I was going to strip the chrome off the wings, but just as an experiment I tried polishing out the scratches. I just used Meguires fine automotive compound and a soft cloth, and it worked nicely. A coat of semi gloss clear and I think it looks pretty authentic. The decals were a bit of work, mainly I think because of age, but a little touch up and an acceptable if not great result. And then I totally **** '* up the clear. It looks fine in the photos, but it's not, for some reason I got dust all over it. I don't know why, I didn't do anything different. So my solution, as I don't have a second set of decals, will be to give it 2 more clear coats and let it cure for quite a while. Then I'll wet sand it and try not to burn through the clear coats, and re-spray it. The windshield isn't glued on so it's feasible.
The (almost) finished product:
For the moment, beside it's younger brother
I am going to build something OOB and simple!!

That really sucks. Before I air brush any clearcoat, I clean my spray booth and start off with a clean filter or one that I got most of the dry paint particles off of by banging it against the outside garage corner. Ok, some I'm cheap, but it does work and extend the life of these filters. And I lightly spray water over the surface of the the booth which is paper towel to help control the dust. I do dust and vac the floor of my model/computer room as it's carpeted and we have a Cat (need I say more). But dust is and will always be an issue.
Good plan to remove or level off the dust. With your skills it will make a major improvement for sure.

Gary and Patrick, I built this kit when it first came out years ago and it was just about totaled in a moving accident and after 40 years or so am rebuilding. I can't tell from your photos but on your respective builds were parts C-9 and C-10 a real sorry fit to the upper body part? I don't recall if they were bad on first build but one is too long and the other is short and both a somewhat obvious gap between them and upper body. Both of your builds are very nice and I am "borrowing"some of your work on mine. Steve

I just realized my question may be a bit vague but I am talking about the rear of these parts where the body work ends. This may be helpful to you. Steve

They are the tunnels used for air flow to the carb intakes. They get painted in a custom orange color. I redid mine and gave you the old ones... sorry about that ! LOL! And yes, Steve they are not the best fit but using the right adhesive and some clamps you can get them configured correctly. It, like any other kit (including MFH) requires some finagling and adaptation. But you will get it!

Just T2 and T3 and some Lotus' and enough Cosworths to start my own shop.
The T4 I had for years, just sitting in a box, waiting for me to rescue it. Those trays fit just fine on mine, but they're painted black (as are the brake scoops), authentic to certain races. Earlier they were left raw fiberglass which is the "orange" that you used.
Which reminds me, it's about time to wet sand the thing and try to fix the clear coat.
Cheers mate.

Hmmmm... I guess that T4 went to someone else... oh well... that's right you got the Protars! Well, let me know how those go together!

Protar + "go together" = contradiction in terms.

Paul, From what I do remember of Protar kits, you've nailed it right on the head.
