It's finally here, and I'll never order from these guys again. Italeri 1/12th Bugatti, hope it's worth the money and the wait. Box arrived dinged but contents look OK.

Hello,
Sounds like getting it was an adventure in itself already. I've never warmed up to larger scales but this will be nice. I bought a partly assembled original Monogram 1/25 Type 35 last year. I hope I can get to it some day.
Thanks, Ismael

Box arrived dinged but contents look OK Paul, who did you order it from? bimax-models, from Italy, through E Bay. Not wanting to overly disparage someone else, but they were a bit disingenuous throughout, and a bit snotty about it. I`ve ordered from Italian suppliers before and they were all great, but not this one. Spotmodel wanted over $100.00 for shipping or I would have bought from them.

Figured I'd start this while still fighting with a Ferrari.
I'll try to do this as an illustrated build-in-progress.
The new Italeri kit, claimed to be brand new molds, this is whats in the box:
Some nice photo etch, chrome that will need to be stripped, and a colouring book - er, instructions.

I'm building this to be a fresh from the factory in 1930 race car. All colours will be based on photos of a couple of unrestored cars, there's lots to go by. Step 1 and 2, prep the frame rails:
Step 3, the transmission:
Step 4, assemble the frame:
Everything looks good, parts all fit - sort of. A lot of the holes need just a little opening up, check everything first. The frame is a bit tricky, went together OK but impossible to stop it from torsionally twisting - the real car probably had the same problem! I eventually had my wife hold the middle part flat on the desk while I twisted it straight, checked it with a vernier and poured a little ultra thin CA on each joint. It no longer twists, so far anyway.
I'll try to update as I download my camera.
Paul

Wife helping with a model? My mind just blew up! Looking good! Will follow closely. I got a built Monogram Bugatti Type 35 in 1/24 scale. Already disassembled most of it. Minor parts broken or missing. What color will you be using? I will probably use 1971 Corvette Mediterranean blue which I already have. Thanks, Ismael

Step 5. Assemble rear axle and springs:
Step 6 and 7, install in chassis:
The leaf spring clips are PE, straightforward so far.
