To be risen from the ashes, I hope. What started as a JPS Mustang Trans Am car, just like Joel's beauty, ended in disaster. We learn from one's mistakes. What I learned was, never, ever put Tamiya acrylic clear coat on top of Testors Enamel paint. My beautiful gloss black (and nicely decalled) paint shrivelled up and dissolved within minutes. That Tamiya clear is just way too hot for my liking. OK, one car ruined, and after a hell of a fight to get it right! So, being me (or just plain stunned, take your pick), I decided to build another one. This time I got the 7/11 kit. By now, after some research, I realize that all Revell T/A - GTP kits are basically the same. It's a one size fits all with some extra parts solution. And the new kit had a warped (typical Revell) floor platform. I also had a perfectly good, almost completed JPS chassis:
With the side skirts removed the 7/11 body fits perfectly:
Except the hood doesn't fit right and the hatch doesn't either, but I'm working on it. See my Camaro thread for a possible solution. I'm not building a 7/11 car, I have no interest in Bruce Jenner, but the body style is perfect for ............... It's a secret. Stay tuned.

My crystal ball says it will be blue and canadian, with a #4 on the door.... That's a really good idea, but actually no.
Maybe another one later though.

I had some time today, and it's cold outside, so I got something done.
After some trimming, a little dremel work, some coercion, copious quantities of super glue, and 2 coats of primer (wet sanded in between)..........
a lift off body (yes it fits the chassis):
a wet sand and 3 coats of Tamiya Pure White and..........
a 1988 Mustang TransAm/IMSA GTO body shell:

I had a set of decals for the Nobody's Fool car made by Ricambi, they went out of business of course, I found them at a swap meet/show and they are now extremely rare. They had some other "Snipets" on the same sheet which I tried to use and they just fell apart in water, I dont know what I did with the rest of the sheet but they were trash any way you look at it..

Paul, Wow!!
I'm just super impressed with the build to date. The 1988 Mustang body painted in brilliant white looks flawless. I'm not even going to guess whose car you're doing at this point.
The single body shell looks so much easier to work with then the 2 pc one we had before. I've got the Folger's Whale tail Revell Mustang with a single body and decals, as well as the Camaro kit and AM decals as well. Like you I'm a gluten for punishment and will eventually build both if I survive this Virus as I'm officially in the high risk category at 72.

OK, the secrets out. Courtesy of Micheal at Indycals, this is the nicest set of decals he's supplied me yet. Unbelievably thin, very delicate but workable. Very transparent so being careful not to overlap because it shows, but he really nailed the pastel colours. My only complaint - very minor - the "secret" on the car sides is about 10% too big but otherwise a 10 for sure.
Everything even survived the dreaded clear coat - TS13 - this time. I only used MicroSet, they're so delicate thats all you need:
Now lots of detail painting to do.
Thanks for tuning in.

I always liked Lyn St James, so when I saw the decal set I jumped at it. And so with nothing to watch on TV, I figured I'd just finish the job:
you can actually see quite a bit through the windows

I saw her race this car once, as a Trans Am. She lost a few laps early on, I don't know if it was mechanical or a mishap, but when she got going again she went like a rocket. She was so far back the result wouldn't matter, so I guess it was a case of showing what she could do. She was throwing it around like a sprint car, great fun to watch!

Thanks for following along.
Cheers guys
