Thanks guys. The truth is I really do like building engines. And chassis. I should stick to that and sub out the bodywork, lol. But if I did that I wouldn't learn anything.

Okay, next big F1 build I'll send to you to do the engine and chassis while I do the body work... and vice versa. We will open a trans-north american shop. I can't imagine the lag times with customs and all! LOL!

Adrian, I'm not a fan of Pledge/Future for Clear Gloss work. I do use it for dashboard lenses and small jobs. I figure my bottle should easily last the rest of my life time, and then pass it on to my son.

Paul, I really feel your pain with those Gold pin striping. I built the 1/20 scale Ebbro 72E Lotus kit and ended up needing the kit decals, the last sheet that Indy Cals had before they couldn't print Gold, and then buying a sheet from Asia that took almost two months to get. Honestly, I'll do just about anything not to have to decal pin stripes again. But all three different sheets didn't have any reaction to Mr. Color Clear Gloss. Two tack coats, let cure for 10 min, and then as many wet coats as needed. Joel

I don't even want to tell you guys what happened with the pinstriping on the 312T! And I will be replacing one of the "boxed" numbers on the air intake box. And then that sucker is never getting touched again!

Ahhh.... Lotus 72
We are Highjacking your post AW
I just watched a pretty damn good docu. last night on Crave TV about F1 in the 60's and 70's - what a deadly period. They interviewed Jochen Rindt's wife several times and she pointed to the 1970 Championship Trophey he never got to lift - on the mantel.
I imagine he would have gotten to lift it if Lotus had brought him the 49 he'd asked for that weekend at Monza, instead Chapman said "Drive the 72 or you're done"
Either way he was done.
Such a tragedy.

Joel, that's a nice looking 72E. I was going to build that kit, but if I can find a 1/12th of a car, that's what I want. I just find it much easier to work on. So if anybody is interested, I have an Ebbro 72E kit, mint with the supplementary JPS decals to match, just PM me.
As to lacquers, as you know I don't airbrush, so what I really want is Testors lacquer Clearcote, but it's very hard to find.
cheers mate

Normally, when I'm getting near the finish line, I can't stop until I get the thing finished. This one, I just wish it was over. It might turn out OK, at least looking good enough to sit on a shelf.

Man...this is really looking Good!! That engine detail and paint is off the chart...it looks real. Your work on the decals is excellent. That black paint is deeper than the Grand Canyon... Don't get discouraged...this is really looking GREAT! Very inspirational...

Thanks guys. Like most of us, I'm my own worst critic. I'm hoping it will make an acceptable model, but you know the saying "good from afar but far from good"? Yeah.

Paul, I completely agree that you're your own worst critic. I guess we all are, as we see little tiny issues as huge, glaring problems that will jump right out at every viewer. the truth be known, you're doing an exceptional build with a incredibly difficult decaling scheme to deal with. And by the looks of it, you've succeeded to the nth degree.
