I just placed a fairly large order with Indy Cals today. And with every item ordered Michael has a pop up stating that you need priority mail to get tracking. Orders are now taking 10-13 weeks on the average with some much longer. Replacement orders will only happen when the post office officially lists an order lost as it can show up months later. With this order, the paints I ordered from Gravity in Spain (DHL shipping). I'm easily set for a few years if need be. Joel I just mailed a dozen envelopes to those who requested decals. They all went First Class and each one had a tracking number. Each one had its address entered into the system and two labels printed: one with the Postage amount - average was $4.00; and a second with a tracking number. Are we all talking about the same United States Postal Service, or do we have a special version here in Texas?

Paul, The fact that you're not dealing with our Postal Service as it's being literally dismantled including no over time, limited number of workers, etc. is a major plus. Moving the mail just takes so much longer. Hopefully, my order will be sooner then later as I opted for the priority service which is basically just tracking.

It starts out USPS and ends up Canada Post. Anything can happen!

Patrick, I try to have all the decals, paints, and detail sets for each kit in my small stash so when I want to build it, it's ready to go.
I placed an order with both Gravity of Spain and Indy Cal located in Co. for 5 kits. Michael ships only USPS and for priority/tracking the price is $3.95. Some orders have gotten to their destinations around normal times, far more have taken a lot longer with times up to 13 weeks. Without tracking it's nearly impossible to have a package officially listed as missing or lost.
I'm assuming that all of Indy Cal shipments go by ground and thus from one major hub to the next as the bins get transferred to different trucks as needed. Time at the hub is the issue as well as the PO's extremely poor routing and with OT no longer allowed, it takes forever to get anything done. This is what every news program is reporting. Naturally, I'm hoping for a lot shorter delivery time, but who knows.

What I found interesting this week is that right after the Postmaster announced that he was no longer implementing his proposed changes at USPS (at least until after the elections), my wife's missing packages got scanned into the system and our mailbox was stuffed with mail (mostly overdue magazines) after 2 weeks of next to nothing except 1 or 2 peices of junk mail each day. Can you say "work slowdown"?

Tuesday I dropped a small package in the mail to a friend in NM. He just texted me to say it just got there. Not bad for First Class, even when the the USPS wasn’t being intentionally sabotaged.

Ordered from Mike's Decals Aug 10th, received today. 11 days from PA to Ontario. Not too bad, under the circumstances. $13.00 postage.

I placed a two kit order from Mikes for the Monogram Ford GTP cars on the 18th, and had them shipped 2nd day ground. Got here with today's mail. Go figure. What I'm really concerned with is Indy Cal's order from Co, as Mike went out of his way to have those pop ups about up to 13 weeks for delivery. Why he doesn't offer UPS or Fed Ex service just doesn't make any sense. My order was around $60, and I would have gladly gone for either shipping option for $20-25 without blinking my one good eye. Even if he only shipped UPS once per week, it's still a very viable option right now. I'm sure that he's loosing some percentage of his business do the shipping issues he's having.

Paul, Those kits are great. Planning on going basically OOB on both. I paid $25 & $29 For the kits plus the decals from Indy Cals. I just have to stay off of his site as I just can't resist all his new offerings.
The only issue I've ever had is the Orange color for his Gulf Wyler GT40s, looks a little to brown to my eye. Just will cut out the black outlines and paint the Orange as that was my original plan.

Joel I was just looking and you can buy templates for the orange stripes or the orange stripes themselves but not both...

Patrick, Yep, you sure can. But I totally forgot to do that with my current order, so it will have to wait until my next one, and there's always a next one. Just ask my wife.

I ordered some GT40 Decals from IndyCals and got 'em FAST!! So far, outside of my parts vendors at work, I haven't had any issues with mail order items in regards to shipping time.
