Hello folks, Yes, I'm making a 2020 C8 mid-engined Corvette in 1/24! I won't hold my breath waiting for a plastic model from Revell or whoever. So even before the car was announced last year, I planned to grab the first 1/24 diecast model of it and repaint it. So, here is the first diecast version of the C8 in 1/24. It is from Motor Max. In short: Totally un-inspiring. Very close to say it sucks! This will take A LOT of work! Those door gaps will be a nightmare to fix. Rubicon ride height Within a few minutes it already looks better Next: Stripping that paint and start the real work. By the way, paint is on its way from Scalefinishes. Thanks, Ismael

A dentist in town just purchased one of these in gray. I looked it over but it really doesn't do anything for me. It might make a good donor for a Ferrari though.
I am quite sure though that you will turn this sows ear into a silk purse.

Very interesting! For me, the C8 is the first Vette that’s actually turned my head. The other generations haven’t really done much for me. There are a couple of C8s running around here. Both are white, which isn’t a good color for these cars.
Maybe someday Nunu or somebody will produce a C8R. If it’s Revell that does one, I hope it’s 1/24.

I am amazed the C8 even made it to production, with testing problems like the rear window Popping out on acceleraton due to chassis flex and many assorted poor/rushed design problems. I worked at GM Design from 1978 to 1984 , we were told by the President of Design not to even ask about a mid-engine Corvette because they Board had a strict No-Go on that subject. Yet we worked a ton on the pre-production Fiero to get it to the market. I personally think Pontiac should have run with that Football and designed a Mid-Engine Car that would have saved the Mark and made a Killer vehicle, no pun intended. When I got my first Fiero in 1982, 2 years before the production started , it was lime green with wire hub caps, looked very little like the final car I drove it around and told people it was a Kit Car!. I was tasked with solving the problem of lack of air induction into the engine, seems the Design guys forgot the engine needed that small item! My first designs used scoops, NACA Ducts etc. mostly on the roof and rear deck, but those were quickly nixed by the Bosses. I designed the side air intake that eventually was put on the final car, but only after I was initially told " It looks like a Fiat x-19! No Way!" I explained the problems with what they wanted and by using the side laminar air flow the intake would be very efficient and not totally Ugly..The rest is history... Chris

Hello, The stripper always delivers... ehhh I mean... never mind Still a bit more paint stripping to do but looking better already YIKES! Look at those door gaps! That will be the biggest challenge, other than the interior which reminds me of Palmer models... The interior will most likely be all black as it is almost a lost cause. Thanks, Ismael

So Ismael, what is your preferred stripper? For metal model cars, that is.... Interesting bit of history, Chris! I once read that development of a really good Fiero was discouraged because it might have cut into the Corvette’s sales. A Fiero with the ‘88’s upgraded suspension, 5-speed, and the turbo V-6 from the Buick Grand National would have been a wild ride for back then. Ben

Her name is *[ DELETED]* I'm using ZEP aerosol paint remover. I think I got it from Auto Zone or maybe Pep Boys. It works well and not as harsh as aircraft aluminum stripper. Thanks, Ismael

I have no doubt you'll work your magic Ismael. The C8 looked really good pacing the field at Indy.
