When the car was first released in 1979 it ran 16" wheels front and rear. For 1980 they increased the diameter of the rear wheel to 19" which is what is included in the Esci kit. The short tail was only was used in '79 (based on my research) so I modified a set of front wheels from a 2nd kit to create the deeper offset rear wheels. I'm also using a taller side wall tire at the front, wheel openings will need to be adjusted accordingly.

Me too Patrick. My plan is to use the MFH instructions, which 2whl (Paul) was kind enough to share with me, to up the detail level of the Ecsi kit. I have been making progress and will post an update soon.

I think the Blue and White (Flying Tigers?) livery was great, I did the same getting the MFH instructions, both on the Beta and the Stratos ( still in the beginning stages on that) and attempting the Detail Up Version. I guess that is the Reality when the budget doesnt support a MFH purchase. Here is a great shot, love the color... I dont know if you have ever been around one, even stock but these are very, very small cars, check the drivers seat takes up half the interior... Chris

- Carefully cut the transmission free (it is molded together with the bulkhead) and separated the differential from the half shafts (also molded together). I can paint this now as an assembly.
- White plastic bits are items I've added

JC, I just signed up for the full ride to the finish line. This is going to be another one of your super detailed, epic, Rally car builds for sure.
I never really followed any Rally series, and thus never had much of an interest in modeling any of them. But following your builds I'm starting to develop an interest. Of course my builds will be mostly OOB with a little enhance details added.
Rear wheel corrections and your engine build in as usual, just amazing.

I'm watching. I've got a couple of these in my stash plus a built up. Any good sources for decals?

Chose to assemble all the tube work now. Will make painting and final assembly a little more challenging but I think it is worth it for the strength of the assembly. Added some detail to what I believe is the oil tank Mockup to make sure I can fit it all in at least so far.

Thanks for the decal links. I really like the looks of the LeMans decals. Unfortunately the Spot decals are 1/12.

Thanks for the decal links. I really like the looks of the LeMans decals. Unfortunately the Spot decals are 1/12. The Spot link isn't for decals, they are 1/12th MFH full detail kits. Very nice ones, wish I could afford them.
I have used LeMans Decals, a little delicate but high quality, a bit slow on delivery but worth the wait. Great source for oddball stuff nobody else makes.
