Mike, You're an excellent builder, can model in various mediums, and you're younger then me: I'm 73 almost halfway to 74, and just to make life interesting, I'm half blind !!
My modeling philosophy is pretty simple. I model what I like, what I'm interested in at that moment, and that changes all the time. I go from straight OOB, to trying my hand at pushing my limited detailing skills to the fullest, and am usually right in between. I try my best. It's just that simple. I model for me, and really enjoy sharing my work with you guys, and following as many builds here as I can.
I'm not in your class for sure, and I've never built anything that went in a straight line, but I love to follow your builds, and learn new methods all the time. So build whatever interests you. Doesn't really matter if you've ever built that type of car before. Worst case scenario it gets reboxed or heads over to the recycling center. Main thing is just keep on modeling.

Mike, I've seen similar methods of bend plastic rod before, but never in metal. Now that's impressive for sure.

A little further along now...motor detailing, paint and wheels.
Paint is House of Kolors "Brandywine" on a silver base, 14 coats altogether. The lacking panels are still drying, so none shown yet.
The wire wheels have Alclad chrome and the rear styrene wheels got a shot of AK Metallic Smoke. The soft Revell slicks have been stuffed with a felt material to puff out the walls. This method allows the tire to really sink in and be "covered with rubber".
Meanwhile, the motor is almost finished, just no photos yet. Not much left to do with this one...

Mike, The paint job looks great, But 14 coats to get there. I can't imagine that for the life of me. The most I've ever needed is 7 coats over dark gray primer for a bright Yellow. Why so many coats?
The tires/wheels both front and back really look the part of being the real deal. I've been on the fence about trying out Alcad 2 Smoke on the ends of the exhaust pipes on the Mustang GT4 build, but after seeing how great the effect is thanks to you, I'm going to try it and see how it looks.

@mustang 1989, thanks for looking. Coming up some more shots of the slick, the difference is really obvious.
@joel, the coats really add up. Since the brass needed bodywork and putty at the flared areas, a base primer coat was needed to cover up the white putty, plus imperfections come out better with a primer. Primer and sand smooth, then primer again, made for 2 primer coats plus clearing.
Then 3 coats of silver to cover the dark primer, cleared, then 5 of Brandywine for the intensity, then 2 times cleared. Yep, makes 14.

Mike, Now that makes a lot of sense. I thought that you needed 14 color coats alone plus all the other coats. My usual paint jobs aren't far behind your total count.

I have used a lot of House of Kolor paint in the past, a little harder to shoot than say Testors and Yes! You have to use a correct base, HOK Interclear in between color coats, the great thing is the more color coats the more intensity and depth and the HOK Clear lays down nice. Dont forget to wet sand in between all coats and this Paint comes out Fabulous. I did this Frankenstude accordingly and won Best Paint at the Grand National Roadster show at the L.A. Fairgrounds. HOK Orion Silver Base, HOK Interclear, HOK Aztec Gold and HOK Clear about 14 coats also.. The Brandywine is a Great Color for the FED. How are you going to paint the back half of the Frame? Same Color? Looks so nice.... Chris Ps. for info on House of Kolor and to buy , even in 1oz bottles contact Coast Airbrush in Anaheim Ca. they are the factory store for HOK.

Chris, Thanks for a clarification to the HOK paint procedures. Way more work then I'm use to with my paint jobs, but the end results are fabulous.
BTW Chris, your Frankenstude looks out of sight.

Thanks guys for looking.
The House of Kolors is a wonderful product, I'll have to add being grateful for a paint shop here in Germany who walked me through the steps needed and how to do them. Nowadays the website and names for products have changed and seems confusing. The paints I bought 5-6 years ago are still good.
Chris, your Studebaker is really a Rude-Stude, fantastic! The H of K paints are addictive, I love airbrushing these.
@joel, a good thing also with H of K, only 15-20 minutes between coats! The final clear should dry 24 hrs.
Thanks bernard for looking, I'm realy excited now with this project. Chute pack and belts mounted today, motor is finished. Front end this weekend....finito!

The car is finished.
The size though is proving to be difficult to photograph properly. Only a few photos convey the real view in my opinion.
But I like it.
This project has been quite an experience. I like the brass full body, but won't do one again. Seems to scream out loud...decals needed!
So, the bench gets cleaned now and small parts left over will find a place, and I'll sort out a new project. Many thanks to all the comments and support, a great thing. Thank you.
