Lowered the front stance and clearance the wheel openings a bit more - sneaking up on it.

Race cars didn't run the damper on the steering rack so I cut it free. This will allow me to have posable wheels at the front.

Regarding the "bump" on the hood. Competition GT350's came with a high-rise intake manifold. I believe the "bump" is actually a scoop that was intended to feed air to the four-barrel carburetor. It's not a scoop Jim, at least not on the Comstock cars. It has to be there for clearance for something underneath. A rad cap seems a bit odd, but sure, if it stuck up enough?
Oh, that bump! Sorry about that, didn't notice it in the pictures. On a stock Mustang, that's right above where the battery is located. Wonder if, on the racing Mustangs, which moved the battery to the trunk, they mounted an oil cooler in that spot, but needed some clearance? The fabricator in me sees a Harrison-type cooler, mounted vertically, with the hoses coming in from the bottom.

Thanks JC, that would explain it. Interesting, the link says the car has been restored to original, including the engine. Somebody should have told the restorers that it had 4 Webers, not the single 4BBL.

JC, looking good so far. interesting expansion tank on Comstock Shelby. i assume it had to be higher then regular radiator cap to work properly.

I’ve abandoned the idea of fabricating override traction bars (too difficult to accomplish and would be very difficult to see on the finished model) and will install the stock back seat. You could order a lightweight racing seat for a Group II. I modified the custom seat from the ’66 AMT kit (left) to represent the racing seat. Also modified the stock seat from the ’67 AMT (left) to resemble a ’66 seat.
