That is a beauty! Are the stripes paint or decals? If decals, how did you get them to lay down over the louvers?

What you see in the overhead shot is pretty much all the interior there is. Here's a pick of the engine before it was installed. Mike

That is a beauty! Are the stripes paint or decals? If decals, how did you get them to lay down over the louvers? Thanks. Stripes are decals. The key to getting them into louvers is to wait 30 or so minutes until the decal is dry, then apply some decal softener. I prefer Mr. Decal Softener from Gunze. After that has dried, I cut along the edges of the louvers with a sharp knife (so the decal will fold into the louvered area) and then apply more decal softener. Sometimes a 3rd application of softener is needed. Afterwards, you can touch up with matching paint. Mike

Nicely done! I just picked up a third kit and need one more to be able to do all four of the decal versions currently available: Brumos, L&M, RC Cola and Martini (Interseries). These are great kits considering their age!
Brian
P.S. - If anyone has an extra set of the Martini decals, I'd like to make a deal with you for them, thanks!

These are great kits considering their age! Thanks. Yes, they are great kits. They go together well and look right. They just need the added interior panels and tail lights. Out of curiosity, who made the Brumos decals? My kit had them included when I bought it a few years ago. My original intention was to build the Brumos car, but the first decal disintegrated in water when I went to use it. Caused me to do a quick repaint of the chassis (from white to aluminum) as well as order decals from Indycals. (Already have the L&M car in 1/43.) BTW, the Indycals decals are great - nice and thin and opaque. Mike

Brian I don't think you'll need another set of Decals nor Car! Because for the life of me I can't recall Martini EVER running a 917/10 Turbo (not that I'm the end all of Racing info, and would love to hear different). Now in '74 they did run a 917/30.

I did some checking through my plethora of Can-Am and 917 books. It seems there was a Martini 917-10 but it ran with a 917-30 nose. Same for the Jagermeister Interserie 917. They are sometimes erroneously listed at 917-30 or even 917-20. They are short wheelbase (like 917-10) and have a 917-10 rear bodywork. Mike

Mike Hi There Mike Did some checking in my copy of Porsche 917 1968-1975 by Walter Naher. The Car raced by Martini in 1974 was the same Car Raced in '73 by Jagermeister and Villant in '75. They were all Chassis 917/30-001. It was the same Chassis used to develope the CanAm Winning /30. The Donohue/Penske/Sunoco Chassis were -002 & 3.
