The kit includes a poorly detailed battery. I replaced it with the Fujimi unit after I made a battery tray. Added a firewall on the back of the interior tub. Not doing all this work and using the kit engine (on the left) again Fujimi to the rescue.

Great mega build JC! It's one of the few Porsches I love. The 904 is the best IMHO.

Thanks Shayne. At this point I applied a coat of primer on the body and chassis and turned it over to HRM and went o work building the engine. The race engines used (2) plugs per cylinder as well as dual distributors - that makes (14!) lead wires coming from the distributor. The distributor came from Replica & Miniatures. The engine comes from the Fujimi 911R kit as it is the only version to include the triple Weber carbs. Also had to modify the gear box. The box on the 911 sits on a mounting bracket but on the 914 the box is hung from its mounting point. Since the cooling fan is not visible on the completed model I saved it for my parts box and just used a flat disk cut from sheet stock to replicate a fan. I drilled out the header ports. The header pipes are designed to slip in these holes to make for a strong mounting.

Completed interior, the passenger set is meant to look like a fiberglass shell. Headers and baffle.

JC, I'm continually impressed with what you did here. Can you tell me, how did you paint the black on the wheels and keep a sharp line where it meets the chrome?
