JC, I'm continually impressed with what you did here. Can you tell me, how did you paint the black on the wheels and keep a sharp line where it meets the chrome? Thanks Art. For the wheels I thinned semigloss black paint - 5 parts thinner to 1 part paint, then loaded up a thin brissel brush and just touched it to the side of the spoke. Capillary action did the rest pulling the paint along the side of the spoke. I had to apply (2) coats to get good coverage.

Great job! I remember seeing 914/6's raced in IMSA GTU, and in that series the teams took a great deal of license with the aerodynamics.

Thank you for sharing this WIP!

Great job! I remember seeing 914/6's raced in IMSA GTU, and in that series the teams took a great deal of license with the aerodynamics. The IMSA GT Series and the Trans Am after 1975 were run under basically FIA Group 5 rules. But in 1970, Porsche 914s were raced in Europe under FIA Group 2 rules. In SCCA racing in the US, 914-6GTs were not legal for Production Class racing. There weren't enough of them built to qualify. Porsche 914-6s were raced in C/Production class without the big fender flares or the bigger 6 engine. The factory Porsche US team managed by Richie Ginther with drivers Alan Johnson and Elliot Forbes Robinson raced them with no fender flares and narrower wheels. They were Fuchs 5-spokes, but not so wide. They did use a plexiglass windscreen instead of the stock full height windshield. Some versions of the Revell kit that JC started with for this came with the windscreen and decals to build as Allan Johnson's C/Production champ. I have on esitting on my display case right now.

Glad you guys enjoyed the build. Here is the original racing 914 kit Richard mentioned above. The current re-issue includes both the stock windshield and the racing windscreen, the original versions of the kit only included the type (stock or racing) shown on the box art.
