I am about three hours into the 312B (1/12th scale, older Tamiya kit so some of the plastic is brittle) and already had one adventure.
I was working on one of the rear transaxles with u-joint and it went flying as I was clamping it. Took about three hours of dedicated search but I did find it! My desk got a thorough cleaning out of it!
Pictures to follow tomorrow or Wednesday.

Three hours of dedicated search! That is hardcore. I usually give up pretty quick. The missing part usually turns up right after I finish scratch building a replacement.

I've often said the best way to find something you lost is to buy a new one.

Oh the half shaft is half scratch built but when the piece is about an inch long, black with chrome part, you wait until it's dark! Actually, I am very, very lucky it didn't get sucked up by the vacuum monster. It was too far back under my desk. Kind of like Mike's oil filter!

I realized I had left a part out in the engine build that is rather crucial. Luckily only one side was already in place so not a lot of damage. But these old Tamiya kits have so many mold separation lines EVERYWHERE and if I am going to do this, I might as well do it correctly. I'm sanding out seam lines on the tops and bottoms of the shock absorbers... it's crazy. Also there two intake ducts to the radiators that are two pieces and getting rid of the glue line and painting them white has been a challenge. It seems one little piece of dirt of something get on them and I have to sand it out and reshoot. White is such a pain in the ass!
I also am stripping the chrome and I am not sure if it is the medium I am using but the stripped pieces need a lot of sanding. I'll show you all a picture later.

Well aren't I the lucky guy again! Now, bear in mind this kit is from 1971 so the plastic is a bit brittle...
I was working on the halfshaft/U-joint for the right side on the transmission when the piece broke and said u-joint went flying. It is about 1/8" long and chrome. Couldn't find it but did find both halves of said broken u-joint mount.
Decided to move on to four small springs that attach to the oil coolers... not sure what they do but the fourth went springing off into never, never land... or so I thought. I was very upset and ready to list all my kits for sae.
Went into the house to get the phone to take photos of damage... decided to give the workspace a good going over...
SACRE BLUE! I found both pieces! The spring is now in place and the ujoint is undergoing repairs!
So once again, I have good luck Mon Dieu! I should buy ze lottery ticket, non?

So on a balmy, January 6th, I decided to spend a little time on some fiddly bits for the transmission and rear end assembly on the 312B. Nothing involving paint as it was still a little chilly. So the half shafts on the rear look like this! Cute, huh! Except one decided to shear off like this and the parts go flying! Having looked at that as a fail that would require some patience, I started doing these little bitty springs. Three went on ok, and then one went flying! I was ready to quit, put everything on sale, and just become a novelist. Easier on the nerves... I searched the desktop to no avail, retreated to the house to get my phone, and take photos of the damage! Guess what! I found both pieces that were missing! Here is the half shaft/u joint in the process of rebuilding... And here is the fourth spring in place! This is the third bout that desk/carpet monster has tried on me with this kit! And then it turned cold again! I am a very lucky modeler indeed!

This car is probably my next 1/12th build, except mine has had all the parts removed from the trees.
Yeah.

I have decided that I need the wire rounded mesh covers for the intake valves on my Ferrari 312B V12 1/12th scale boxer engine. It makes no sense whatsoever to not have them.
Any ideas?
They need to be uniformly round and "brass" colored or I would attempt them on my own.
Thanks in advance.

My biggest problem with spot model is the shipping costs.
But I guess I can't be choosy, now can I? It's that or make my own!
Okay, I bought all 32 they had in stock (4 x 8 pieces each). It was close to $90.00 for the purchase with shipping (FedEx 4-7 days). I'm trusting you guys. I bought a 1/12th scale correct seat belt kit from a company in Italy and I am not sure if I will ever see that order (Gemini models in Italy). I hope I wasn't foolish.
So that is all the accessorizing this 312B is getting... no PE upgrades or anything. I did buy new decals and the houndstooth material applique for the seat... but that's it! I mean it!
I wonder why no one in the US wants to handle Model Factory Hiro? Too expensive? Tariffs too high? Their products are very costly so maybe no one wants to carry that high end inventory.
