I have the #6 decals from last issue of this kit.Cartograph print. If you would like to have them,PM me and I'll send them out. Steve Thanks, Steve but if I do anything, I can either 1) get another set from Michael as part of his "Oops!" guarantee or 2) use the old roundel... problem is two fold. This is already sealed with clear and the registration would have to be perfect in order to place the Ferrari marking over the original. I almost thinking I don't need to do it... or now 3) use one of yours. I still don't know if it worth the effort. I sent you a PM with my address. Thank you in advance

So the issue is if you double decal it, not only does the white circle have to be exact, but so does the number. In that case I'd opt for a 2nd decal from Michael, as the Cartograf would be very close, but dead on is asking a lot. Also, decals do stretch when wet and being applied, so once again I'd go with the Indy Cal dups.

I think it needs it but then again, like I said, I am very OCD.

pnance26, Nope. This isn't OCD as the black number will bleed through the top white number circle if the registration is off, so everything has to line up perfectly. Now OCD would be striping it down to raw plastic, priming and painting, but this time laying down a base coat of white 1st, then a circle mask so you can paint the Ferrari Red on. and finally either a decal for the number, or going the truly extra mile and paint it yourself.

Couldn't you just touch up the spot with some white paint or a chip of white decal? Another shot of clear and it might blend in.

the paint patch will always show. Add enough paint and you end up with a ridge that you can't really blend in. The problem with a patch in this case is that where it over laps will end up being a brighter white with less bleed through. But if you double decal, the little rip will never show up enough for anyone but you to notice.

Michael has allowed me to exercise the Oops protection with his decals. so I will be getting a new set. . I should be able to assemble the rest of the kit by this weekend and just leave that roundel for the finish... Thanks to everyone for the support. My OCD isn't quite bad enough to want to strip the whole piece and then shoot in white, somehow make a perfect round mask, then reshoot Ferrari red, and then place the decal. However, the future build of the T will require painting the white so that laying down decals won't be an issue. From here on, the T has a lot of white on it! Thanks again for your words along with everyone else!

As Joel pointed out, I don't that would work as the rest of the decal is rather translucent which Michael has explained is the case. I took a chance and I think it will actually look much better with a dupe over the top anyway. The white will be white and not a reddish white. But thanks for the suggestion!

the paint patch will always show Joel I disagree! I've done this many times over the years, especially when decals didn't fit or edges chipped while applying or they didn't cover enough area. It's just a matter of thinning the paint enough to fill the chip WITHOUT building up too high. Also, an off-white can often match the decal white better, simulating the slight color bleed thru of the paint underneath. I've even used white ink! Since Patrick has already cleared that decal, he could even polish the paint patch a little to blend it in. As far as using a piece of decal goes, try melting a piece of matching decal with Solvaset and use it like paint. Doesn't work with all decals, but might be worth a try. If nothing works well enough, then go with Michael's Oops!

UNCLE! FRICK! FRACK! FRAZZENRATCHEL! I am cursed! I think I am going to quit!
All that polishing and etc and the clear has bubbled the decals (for now). And there is a very fine hair on the top of the back... I blow and dust and vacuum and shit like this still happens!

One of the best investments I have made lately is a Tamiya Anti-static brush. Brush the parts down just before hitting them with paint: They aren't cheap but they work as advertised! Another trick I learned is to use a spray bottle in the booth before painting. Just a light mist of water on the sides and bottom helps keep the crap down. I don't spray the top because I really don't wanna catch a stray drip with the body I just painted!

After all the hard work on everything else and it can fall apart with a single hair or a bubble. Like I said here before - achieving a perfect finish on a body is damn near impossible without being in a professional paint booth. Tricks I use are misting the area with water just before painting - only method I have found to keep stray hairs and dust particles at bay. You’ll figure out a solution though ... never give up - there are lots of ways to hide these things if you get creative enough

I myself have decided to take a little brake from the Ferrari, not to mention waiting on the packages to arrive in the mail.. So take a moment and refocus all should be good.

I think I may never use clear again. Seems that is the major problem here. i think I am at that place where we all get. We just want to get this one finished so we can start the next... I am not only OCD but I am bit ADD as well!
