I couldn't resist starting this one as soon as I finshed the Toyota 88C-V! Between the fantastic kit and the cool livery, this one will be a lot of fun. I used Mr Hobby Fluorescent Yellow and I'll be using Indycals decals for the livery. I'm loving this color! It ranges from intense yellow to yellow-green, depending on the light. The real car was hard to miss on the track. They run an equally bright Porsche Cayman GT4, now. That's another car somebody needs to do a kit of. I need to do a better job cleaning out my airbrush. Just as I was finishing up, it spit some black specks out on the passenger door. I'll sand it out and repaint when I paint the wing. Ben

That’s a bright color, definitely can’t miss it out on the track

I too bought the Mr Hobby Fluro yellow but got a bit worried when I saw that Splash paints has come out with a Volt Fluro Green. I checked photos on-line, and sure enough, it sometimes looks green. But you said the Mr Hobby flops to green and the photo of your model is a dead match for the car in your avatar, so I think I'm good to go with what I've got.

I saw their Cayman in person and it definitely had a greenish tint. I started to try the Splash Paint, but decided to stick with what I had on hand. Glad I did. I think the Mr Hobby paint nails it.

Thanks! Apparently, the official name for it it Acid Yellow. This is an outstanding kit. Once all of the detail painting is done, it should go together very quickly. The way it’s broken down, everything but the body, which depends on the livery you choose, can be painted with very little masking. They provide masks for all of the clear parts. Some of the cockpit parts that would normally molded as part of the tub are separate so you can paint them and drop them in, instead of having to mask and paint them. Ben

Ben, I'm hoping that Michael at Indy Car does a few cars with different base colors then the kit uses.

Yes, that is a strange color for a race car. Michael has several liveries for this kit.

I got most of the decals on, but had a couple of minor setbacks. I damaged the swoosh decal on the passenger side of the bonnet while I was trying to reposition it, and messed up a second one on the other side. Rather than using Michael's "Oops" service, I just ordered a second sheet. I'll pull that damaged decal off and replace it. Some of the decals are slightly undersized, so I'll use the extra grey decal to fix them. There are also several that I'll double up because they are allowing the underlying yellow to show through. The worst are the wing and end plate logos, which are also too short to go the length of the end plates. I'm searching for some flag decals to go next to the driver names, since they were omitted from the sheet, and the decals provide a different electrical cutoff decal from what I'm seeing in photos. Once I can handle the body again, I'll use some heat and Micro Sol to do something about those creases in the roof decal. I'm still having a good time with this model, and for the most part, I'm happy with these Indycals decals. I see that Zero Paints has also released Acid Yellow for this car. They released Turner Yellow a few weeks before Racing Decals 43 released decals for the Turner car. It will be my luck that RD43 will release decals for this car about the same time as I finish my model. Ben

Ben, I'm holding off on my build till I see a few more decal options. I'm surprised that Michael's decals have several that are undersized, and the bleed through issue as well. Usually his decals are pretty opaque.
Gotta that that your body looks great in the photo. Is the carbon fiber decals for the rear wing come with the kit or on Michael's sheet?

Joel I've had some minor sizing issues with past sheets. They were never significant enough to worry about, though. This particular model emphasizes any issues because the paint is so bright. The color bleeding through the white areas is just the nature of the printing process Michael uses. Doubling the decal usually works. I had to do the same on some of his white decals on a Day-Glo Indy car, too. The wing carbon fiber is on Michael's sheet. You paint the wing yellow and apply the decal. The logo part is clear. I think I would have preferred a mask for this. I'm not a fan of carbon fiber decals because the weave pattern is usually overscale and looks it. It's like overdone panel lines on airplane models; on the real item you rarely them at normal viewing distances. The Mustang wing looks gloss black in almost all photos I've found. When the second sheet gets here, I'll see if a second layer will help. If it doesn't, I'll just cut a mask and start over. I hope I'm not coming across as complaining or being overcritical. I really do like the decals and will continue buying Michael's products. I'm just passing along (hopefully, objectively) my experiences and what I'm doing to correct any issues I run into. Ben

I'm loving the progress you're making, Ben. But I have to tell you, I have to put sunglasses on before opening this thread because of the bright yellow
