At least the Meng has a distributor! HAHAHAHAHA! I thought you meant "distributor" as in a place to buy the model kit! Then I read it a second time and realized what you are saying! Well, that makes all the difference... that one part. Oh wait, I already fixed that! LOL! Thanks!

Well, that makes all the difference... that one part. Oh wait, I already fixed that! LOL! Thanks! No, I can make the whole engine. Small block Chevy. Block in 2 pieces, heads, valve covers, timing cover, oil pan, belts and pulleys, distributor. All cast in resin, a little rough but they clean up well, from my own molds. You can get a matching intake and 4 Webers from 3D Scale Parts. I did it so I can build 1/12th F5000 and Can Am cars (sometime down the road). They're latex molds so I only get a few copies before the molds wear out, but I can probably squeeze a couple more if anybody wants a set.

A little progress today... plug wires with boots, distributor with boots, basic engine construction, and some wiring looms. That was four hours work! Seriously, this is going to take a while!

Thanks for the video of the Meng review, Patrick. There are some definite improvements in that kit over the Trumpeter - but there are also some parts which are worse. Those rubber seats! Yes, I will take a copy of those decal images from you, cheers. I'll message you. What colour are you planning to do the inside? I wasn't keen on the one used on henryk001's, and I think it actually looks like it should be something more like Tyrrell Blue. I bought a jar for my P34, so will test it out. Thanks for the offer 4wheels. Will definitely keep you in mind. I know henryk001 built his own distributer, but if I have to do more parts (starter too?) then I may avoid that and contact you! I may also attempt to modify the manifold to more accurately represent the real one... One last thing: Were the fuel line unions really blue/red anodised? I would prefer not to have them like that on mine. I need to order a set, but would rather stick to s/steel if that's what they were. Cheers

Cheers I am going to do the interior blue like the rest of the tub... in fact, I am following Henry's lead and doing a pearl blue as I think it will show better. I am going to leave the manifold as it is since it is molded oddly with the top the cylinder walls. If it were just a piece that sat in, I would replace it. As far as the anodized fitting, I am still no sure. I don't really need to worry about that for a few more weeks. I have plenty else to do. The seats alone are going to be enough for a weeks work. Still can't believe MENG would settle for those rubbery things. They are awful. Plus the "rubber" fuel lines are something Protar was doing back in the 70s. Oh well... plenty else to do.

A lot of members asked about the rivet heads, bolt heads and those mystery Dots I mentioned that came from a Ankle Weight. I took a couple of photos to share, ( Note I have ised a bunch off of each sheet I found this Top Studio set to have the most versatile set of rivets, Hex head, Allen head and Fasteners that I have use on every thing from a tiny 1/25 Moto GP to 1/12 scratchbuilt Engines and Chassis, It has some different and interesting Nuts and Washers I felt worked very well. They are not attached with a sprue but are actually on a clear adhesive acking, making use much easier and loss minimal. Next is those Dots. I had to blow these up quite a bit in the photo with the smallest about 1.0 mm , these are actually in a jar, 38.9mm or just over 1.5 inches.. So many uses, some where square or oval. Those separated for use in other areas. I got the Top Studio direct and the Dots after a Ankle Weight accident. LoL ! Chris

At least the Meng has a distributor! Good to know. It is sort of needed for an old engine to run. Does it have plug wires too?

Interesting. My theory is to do the 'background' the dull Tyrrell version so make the details stand out more. Will be interesting to compare! For some reason I have it in my head that a lot of the colours on these cars weren't very vivid - possibly due to the quality of photos I've been looking at. I'm always concerned that anything bright/shiny will look too modern. Yeah, I looked at the manifold again and realised it was all molded one-piece. Probably too difficult. The seats are a definite challenge. Still considering simply using a layer of filler putty over the whole thing and pushing the rings (or better rings) into it while still wet and cleaning up/drilling the holes once dried. The fact the two seats are identical is enough justification for me to want to do something drastic to them. I've been very interested in the MotoGP detail parts too. Great being the same scale, and seem to have more availability. The ankle weights find is fantastic. I feel like going to the local sports supplies and picking some up. Sod's law they will be filled with sand/concrete though...

Chris, Once again, thanks for not only the information but where to get them. I'm going to order a few packs from Detail Masters as I've always just skipped the rivet issues. I've also seen a decal type of rivet which seems to be great for long rows of single or double rivets as getting them straight seems like it would be much easier then single rivets.

Joel Micro Mark has sheets of rivets in a row as chop chop modelers seem to use them a lot! I have some sheets somewhere in my shop! I really need to get organized...
