"Journey of a thousand miles begins with one step"! Have fun! Just look at all that pointless chrome!

Start by dechroming the five chrome sprues...

MicroMark has shipped. Waiting on RB Motions (which may be at the mail box) and ordered Tamiya paints for the engine and tub.
Also, actually cut some parts off the sprue to dry fit.
And away we go.

Work bench cleaned up and widened... And first pieces cut from sprue and laid out to assemble... need some paint first expected Monday or Tuesday but next day off will be Friday. And away we go... Question of the morning... since there aren't even dimples to indicate where spark plugs should be located, (using the engine half on the left side of the photo) where would you put them? In the spaces between exhaust ports above or below? Thanks in advance.

Patrick, What a great project. I'll be following you every single step of the way. I'm just blown away at the amount of AM you've assembled for this epic build. And with your eye for detail and accuracy of the most minute details, it's going to be one for the ages.
As for the correct location of the spark plugs, just about every picture I've got of a GT40 MkII engine bay, the headers block one's line of sight to the plugs. But a few generic pictures of the Ford big block shows that the plugs are installed in the small lip right below the headers starting in front of the 1st exhaust port and then inbetween the other 3 ports.

Here's a pretty clear right side view (not a GT40, but same engine): This is a (restored) MKIV, note the wires go in front of, not over, the valve cover:

OK, found a period pic of the MkIV:

Great stuff, guys! Makes sense the spark plugs would be over the top of the exhaust ports. I am going to have to make two different styles of wiring looms for this... one version is fairly flat and the other is more like a block with a metal band... Let's see if I can find the photo...

Not many period pics of the MkII, this is the best I could find, at least today! Looks to be period:

Thanks everybody for the pics! I guess it will be top of the assembly... anyone know if there is a correct manifold about in 1/12th scale? You can see from the photo above this is no where near what is correct. Let's see if I can do a before and after... Actual manifold... Kit manifold... looks a bit different eh?

Wanna talk about a nightmare to replicate? Try this... Here are the wiring looms to which I was referring. I think I can handle them!

Patrick, I'm really looking forward to seeing just how you handle that gaggle of braided lines.

Patrick, I'm really looking forward to seeing just how you handle that gaggle of braided lines. Joel Well for one thing, I need the correct fittings. I ordered from RB Motion what I thought were correct but they are not... and I don't know if this is replicated on both sides... let me show you what I mean...

Here is a simpler view... The kit replicates this on both sides of the firewall as shown in the clip from the instructions above. I wonder if it is necessary to do both sides. Seems a bit redundant when you have the spare here.. I am going to have to make a better oil filter as well...
