If all you guys need is a 1/12th American type distributor I can probably make some resin ones for you. I ordered one from Shapeways and I got a Chevy 427 manifold and carb with it! Anyone need those in 1/12th scale? Thanks for the offer Paul! Just curious, which did you order? There's this from TDR, I'd be surprised if it had the wrong stuff given that it's designed specifically for this model.
BTW, mine's been shipped and should arrive on Monday. While I don't have this kit yet for comparison purposes, I can take and post some pictures of it.

Patrick, will be checking out Micro Mark as I couldn't find any rivets listed on the Detail Master site.

Chris, Once again, thanks for not only the information but where to get them. I'm going to order a few packs from Detail Masters as I've always just skipped the rivet issues. I've also seen a decal type of rivet which seems to be great for long rows of single or double rivets as getting them straight seems like it would be much easier then single rivets. Joel Archers Transfers www.archertransfers.com/ makes the Rivets that are actually resin rivets on a decal film carrier ( extremely thin decal material ) that is virtually invisible when dry and paint over with no filler or sanding I ordered several Assortment sets since they are laid out in Model Railroad sizes and I have no idea what those equate to. I have used them on things like 1/12 oil pan rails, 1/16 GT40 chassis all over, 1.25 race car bodies and chassis, and even on a 1/43 F-1 kit. so they are great for all scales. like I said start with a assortment sheet and go from there Other places sell them but I found going direct to be the best option. Dont be afraid of these they are a great tool for detailing and scratchbuilding.. Chris

Shipping was much less than most domestic sellers.. Just Saying Chris

well isn't that interesting... I didn't find that listing! Looks like another $35! Actually, I probably wont order it as I already have the distributor, and the pulley wheels come as part of the KA upgrade.

I like Mac's but the pricing seems a bit high and the stock levels can be disappointing. Great site and stocks many Manufacturers, but..... Chris

Well, six hours of building doesn't get you very far when there is this much to be done. First, this is not an "Alex Zanardi" figure... it is from the old Tamiya Lotus kit. I guess they assumed no one would look down into the foot well! If anyone knows of a full figure with open face helmet in 1/12th scale, I would consider putting it in the car. I only did this to see if the seats were truly 1/12th scale and they look just a tad small. But maybe not... Next is a view of the PE fittings around the exhaust ports. Also, here is the wiring with my "looms" and the distributor cap with boots. Also, on the left you can see the kit piece for the front of the engine with the KA white metal piece added... a note and photo to follow. If you add the KA piece which raises the main pulley wheel (the piece with the hole on the engine front... you can see the curved outline of where the kit piece ends), then you need to do this to make sure it fits flush against the main engine pieces... And you should end up with this... So the basic engine assembly, the wiring, the distro, and one side of the exhaust ports are done. Will have to do some touch up... but this was six hours. It didn't seem like it took that long. But I would rather take it slowly than muck it all up! Your comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Patrick, The distributor, Ignition wires, and looms look fantastic. Already your build is exceeding expectations.

Ok guys... time to start thinking about the exhaust systems... I have never worked in white metal prior to this. I think this is effect I want to try to achieve. Keep in mind I know nothing so where do I start and what do I need? Since these parts are white metal do I need an etch primer? Then how do I achieve the shiny yet dull effect? Also what about the weld lines? All help and suggestions are appreciated!

Patrick, very nice work so far. I'm just starting the Magnifier kit so have been following along with great interest!
My personal experience is that I've always had good results priming white metal (and resin) with Tamiya fine surface primer, it adheres perfectly and then the topcoats lay down well and don't flake off. The KA exhausts have weld seams cast in, so unless you want to add more they should be fine. If you do want to add more you can try Micro Kristal Klear or any heavy bodied paintable adhesive. I've had mixed results doing this depending on my patience!

You will see that I try to document the problems as well as the good stuff. Wish I had a few hundred more to put into nuts and bolts... but I can only go so far. Looking forward to seeing your build! Thanks for the advice!
