I have too many very time consuming builds I'd really like to do - this is not one of them.
Ever notice when all you want is a quick and simple diversion from the main project you're working on, it's never quick and simple?

Hopefully these will be of some use to those building this car. They are of the 7/11 car, and clearly the Monogram model was based on this - it's pretty close as far as it goes:

Interesting how the plug wires are inset in the top photo and all the other show an "above the manifold" connector. Wonder why that is... great shots, Paul!

Paul, Thanks so much for posting those pictures. They're going to be a great help in my build when I finally get to it.

This is the OOB chassis complete. That's all the parts in the kit. The body fits well enough to be a lift-off, but if you compare this with the previous pics of the 1:1 car, you can see what's missing. That's a whole lot of scratch building. If the car turns you on enough, it would be a great little year long project!
By the way, if you're building this, don't glue the turbo intake on (it's just sitting there), wait until the hood is in place.

So a test fit with the body on. Fits really well for a Monogram.
Obviously, you can see diddly/squat through the windows, so not much point detailing the interior or back end if you're gluing the body on, which I am. And if you open the hood........
Well, half of that's hidden too. I have the urge to dis-assemble it, glue the hood shut, call it a curbside, and keep the engine for another project!
Now, what possible use could I have for a Zakspeed turbo ? Hmm....
cheers

I think the engine bay looks good if you decide to leave the hood removable.

I think the engine bay looks good if you decide to leave the hood removable. I do too JC, I was just musing about possibilities.
I'm leaving it alone. Interesting, I laid some ignition wires on top of the head, and the hood won't lay flat. It's that close. So no detailing on this one. I suppose I could paint them on, but I'd probably mess it up.

Paul, I'm really loving your build. Honestly, you're doing a fantastic job. The engine compartment looks darn good. Glad you're going to leave the hood removable. Mine will have some detailing, but nothing like you, Chris, and JC do.

So, finished. Literally OOB stock except for Indycals decals. Nice kit to build even if not so accurate, remarkably good fit of parts - nice job Monogram! Paint and decalling was a bit tedious, but I have to complain about something, right?
Highly recommended if you want something simple but quirky to work on. And I do like that Ford paint scheme!!

Paul, Wow!! What an impressive build, paint job, and decaling. For a guy that hates decaling, you did one heck of a job considering the amount of Indy Cal decals that have to be fully trimmed to fit.
I've been on the fence about about building my GTP kit, but after seeing how yours turned out, I'm a believer in just how good of a kit this is.
