Pasqual, Great to see you back on the site and posting updates of your Ferrari 256 build. Your work as usual is just beyond what an ordinary modeler could ever hope to achieve. That wire wheel and hub is just amazing. The disc brake with the correct grooves in the disc looks dead on accurate. I'm assuming that the disc comes with those grooves, or did you figure out a way to make them?

Pascal, I guessing that the 256 F1 car is on hold till the 1/4 scale Ferrari engine is finished, or are you going to be working on both at the same time?

Those wheels are a preview of my future.
How did you turn them from white metal to chrome?

Those wheels are a preview of my future. How did you turn them from white metal to chrome? I am going to assume he has a magnetic tumbler, It’s what I use to polish white metal 😉

About the wheels... how do the spokes attach to the hub and to the rim? Very careful gluing or does the angle of the spoke keep it in place?

Hi Mates,
Sorry for veeeery late reply!
@joel: are you talking about the grooves on the face of the disc? I turned a support for the disc in order to install it on the lathe. Then I hold different grades of sand paper on the side of the disc like if it were brake pads on a real one. That’s all.
I don’t use tumbler, but grades of sanding pads, paper up to the awaited finish.

Me again, The spokes are installed in the drilled hub. I drilled the hub at the right angle with 0.4 bits, then glue the spokes on the rim with CA. Few progress! It is requested by the manual to reduce the intake manifold by one millimeter. It is modified and reinforced using 0.8 brass so it will not move for milling. The shafts are prepared as well as the calipers. You can see the difference with original OOB parts. The gearbox is painted With aluminium (Dull Alu Alclad), instead of the black recommended. Same thing for the engine block after being quickly masked with tape and liquid mask. Time for oils, 1st step. Even 1/12 engine looks small next to the 1/4… oil filter! 2nd step … and starting with carbs: Weber, it’s written! Hope you like it. More soon! Pascal

Thank you Paul! Yes, oils from W&N, Sennelier, Rembrandt. Extra fine. Thinned (more than 90%) with Zippo lighter fluid. Pascal

Pascal, As usual, your update is just top notch. Your before and after comparisons clearly show the amount of work and effort needed to bring those parts up to that level. And your oil washes just transforms kit parts into miniature replicas. Looking forward to your next update my friend.
