I thought I would attempt to build the Model Factory Hiro Ferrari 312PB from 1972. This version is from Rd.5 Monza 1000km. Drivers Jackie Ickx/ Clay Regazzoni. This is one of my favorite sports cars, I am hoping to do this kit the justice it deserves. I sure hope you like and follow along. Chris

Chris, Just saw your post, and I'm right in my front row seat for the full run. I'm betting that it's 1/12 scale for sure.

It’s 1/12, anything smaller would drive me insane 🤣

HA! I'm the other way around. Anything bigger than 1/24 drives me nuts. For some reason I've never liked bigger scales. I'll follow this as the 312PB is one of my favorites and I blame Alain De Cadenet for his review in the Victory by Design DVD from about 20 years ago. Thanks, Ismael

So the good thing about building the tub is lots of polishing, the bad thing is lots of polishing 😬 Lots of clean up, polishing, then masking the molded in tubular frame. Hope you like Chris

Hello,
I suppose that is white metal, right? How do you polish and most importantly, how do you keep from tarnishing after polishing? Clearcoat? waxing?
Thanks, Ismael

Hello, I suppose that is white metal, right? How do you polish and most importantly, how do you keep from tarnishing after polishing? Clearcoat? waxing? Thanks, Ismael Thanks for checking in! Yes it’s white metal, I use a magnetic tumbler for cleaning and polishing the parts. I don’t do anything with them after. Too much handling with it. I know some people have used clear to cover it.

Thanks, Ismael Ismael, here's a link to my experience with a magnetic tumbler for the first time. It starts at the bottom of the first page. I haven't cleared anything yet and the shine seems to be holding. Like Chris said, I try not to handle it to much afterwards. If I do, a rub with a microfiber cloth seems to bring it back. I suspect oils and such from your hands affects the metal.

Chris The tub is really taking shape quite nicely. One thing that surprised me is the floor tubing being part of the floor pan rather then separate parts which seems to be their norm for everything.
