Just out of curiosity, how many drill bits would you wear out or break drilling that many holes into White metal? joel The part where he drilled all the holes is resin...

Small update… I put most of the front suspension together. It was a bit tricky but it came out nice. I also painted the side pods and rear piece that the engine mounts to. So I will tell you my method of how I paint resin. First I clean all my parts with dawn dishwashing liquid, dry them with a clean towel. Then I wipe it down with lacquer thinner. I prime the pieces with Tamiya primer. In this case white. Usually 2 coats. Let it sit for a day then I lightly wet sand with 3000 grit. I painted the white with Gravity Color Titanium white. I usually do 2 coats for good coverage. Let it cure for a couple days. I masked off the area’s so I could spray Tamiya TS 56, about 3 mist coats then one wet. I let this cure for a day. I then mixed up some Gravity Color 2K clear and shot one mist coat the followed by 3 wet, let that dry for 24 hours. Now the parts are ready for a little wet sanding and some polishing, then I can apply the decals. I personally prefer to clear over the decals, so a lot more to do before any major assembly happens 😉😁

Chris, Nice start to the front suspension. Paint work came of perfect with the color separation lines as sharp as a tack.
But what I got the most out of is your paint work flow (Old digital photo processing term). I've been having issues all of a sudden with wet sanding primer and paint. I noticed a few differences to what I do and what you do. For one, when I wet sand the primer coat (Tamiya of course), I go with 3,000 then 6,000 as I was experiencing some scratches showing in the color coats. But the color coats just didn't adhere properly causing other issues that led to countless striping and starting over and over again. I also only give the color coats 24 hours to cure. I'll be trying out your methods and see if that helps with my issues.

Great looking work, Chris! My front suspension isn't nearly that clean but I will not admit publicly as to why... I'm too embarrassed... rookie shit.
And I will be copying your steps in painting... worth reading from sure. I am not sure if I will use the McLaren orange I got from MCW or the Tamyia TS 56. Gonna test some spoons first!
Thanks again for the inspirational work!

Patrick, I didn't think that TS56 is a match for McLaren Orange, so I googled it: TS-56 is meant to represent Repsol orange. I also so this as a side note to the MFH color call out: Hiro Paint lists different stock numbers for the two colors so I'd lean more toward believing that the Hiro color is correct. Hopes that this helps, as there's so many close choices out there these days. Personally, for my Mclaren M8B when I finally get it built will be painted with Gravity McLaren Orange. I have two bottles, one that's still sealed, and one from Zero that's many years old that would most likely melt the plastic right through the primer coat.

Supposedly, Model Car World gets the color formulation straight from the company but who doesn't claim that? Yeah, you get to tell Chris he chose the wrong color orange... yeah, go on... I dare ya... I double dog dare ya! LOL!

Patrick, Wow!! A Proboard's dare. My 1st as far as I can recall.
Chris, as I posted for Patrick, the Tamiya TS56 is Tamiya's match for Repsol Orange not for Mclaren Papaya Orange even though it's really close.

I just wish I wasn't at work because I want to throw some paint around now!

I took some time to assemble the gearbox and rear suspension. Slow progress, but it’s progress 😁

I can’t believe I’ve actually caught up to Chris and am actually a little bit further along! I married the transmission to the engine prior to place the engine onto the tub as I am still painting to top shell. I think I may be able to start on the rest of the rear assembly and wing mount. I’ve also gotten the rear wing drilled and assembled. Next thing will be paint.
Great looking work as always, Chris!
Paul are you still working on yours?
