Salvino Jr is looks like they will be producing the latest Indycar Dallara. Pictured is the 2023 Indy 500 Winner Josef Newgarden. Hopefully this will lead to a number of decal version by Indycals.

I understand that these kits will be in 1/20th scale.

I'm in for sure. Just maybe they'll make some of the older cars, or is that too wishful thinking?

Jim, Thanks for this exciting info. I'm going to assume that at least for the 1st moldings that they Salvino Jr will be using the basic dimensions of the 92/93 Lola especially the suspension.
I finally broke down and bought their 2023 Ford Mustang Penske/Logano Penzoil car since I've been a Team Penske fan since 1967.
I'm not a fan of the tri color plastic that all of their kits have with decals having the secondary color of the paint scheme so you don't have to paint the car!! At least the Penzoil decals don't have this unwanted feature. I've watched 2 full builds on You tube of noted Nascar builders doing Larson's car, and Blaney's car, and both used the molded color along with those decals. Both had issues with the decals to some degree, and one just did a horrid job to be perfectly honest. Apparently, gone is the days of just molded White plastic. for the other cars I want to model, I'll be using AM decals. I guess that Salvino jr will be following the same process for the Indy Car decals, so for the most part I'll be using nearly all Indy Cal decals (which I basically do now).

I am a little disappointed in the scale for this car, I would've preferred 1/25th scale. First is the cost, I would think that a smaller scale would be less expensive. Second there are very few 1/20 scale Indy cars. There is the old MPC Turbine car and the Tamiya 93 Lola. There are a couple of resin 1/20th, but that's all I can think of off hand.
There are far more 1/25 scale Indy cars and it would've made for a better donor kit along with many other possibilities for a new car in 1/25.

Jim, As for me, I'm more a /124 scale type of guy, but I do build 1/20 scale F1 cars, so maybe that has something to do with the scale decision. I really can't find anything about this other then a few posts on some other forums from my Google searches.
I thought that the license to make Indy Car kits was basically bought up by the Die-Cast companies as they sell millions of dollars worth of cars at the races, and online. So the odds of ever seeing more Indy cars models seems like a doomed idea at best.

Joel, I agree with you. Most F1 and sports cars are in 1/24 with F1 adding to 1/20th. Most Indy cars are in 1/25. This is what happened with Tamiya and we only ever saw one Indy car from them the 93 Lola. No other Indy cars ever came of it. Tamiya tried to put their Indy car model in the same scale as their F1 series. While it was a very good kit, I believe they would've had even better sales in 1/25th. Just think of all the things that could've been with that kit if it would've been produced in 1/25th scale? Easily could've converted it to a 92 or 94 Lola and all the Buick Lolas that could've been done! For Indy cars and sport cars 1/20th is really and odd scale.
I certainly will purchase a couple, but not as many as if they were in 1/25th scale. I most likely would've bought them by the case if they were 1/25th. That is what I did with the AMT and Revell kits. However, I think in the end the 1/20 scale will hurt their sales and then it will be another twenty years till we see another model of an Indy car, if at all.

Jim, Taking it a step further, Salvino jr has been basically 1/24 Nascar both with the purchase of the old Monogram molds, and their own molds. So using that premise, then at least 1/24 scale should have been their scale of choice. As the more I think about it, there's got to be a reason for them picking 1/20 scale that they need to share with the Auto modeling community. joel

Joel I am sure there are a number of reasons that they picked that scale for their marketing. Whether they are good reasons or not we shall certainly see. We all have our opinions and it is good to exercise them. I just hope it isn't like the Tamiya kit, "here today, gone tomorrow"!
