There should be no debate, as I contacted the Henry Ford about the colors. They are my source. Unless they have it wrong (and it's possible), any other information is "questionable".
Thank you and will order correct red this week!

Per The Ford that Beat Ferrari p. 116 John Holman sent his son Lee into the city of Lemans to buy some Day-Glo paint - as they had used in Daytona. Number 1 was given red flashes, No. 4 green and No. 6 yellow.
Don't forget the Pink on the #5.
Funny story about the Florescent paints. They faded very quickly. In days they turned to a brownish-reddish color. After the race, some of the cars were used for displays at Car Shows in Europe. Car #4 was used in a Paris Salon. As the green faded so badly to this reddish-brown hue, the folks in charge of the display to freshen up the car, repaint the area Red. It stayed this way for awhile until it was re-pained as the winning Black/Sliver #2 Mk II for the Indy 500 Museum.

Four pages of discussion and I don't even have the kit! That's what I love about this place.
So paint is ordered (except for flourescent red), decals are in the post, as is the kit and all the add ons. Time to go out and clear the bench of all previous projects and begin to do some serious thought/layout work. This will be the most expensive build I have ever attempted (over $550 already and I haven't ordered any nuts and bolts!) But this might be the most planning I've done as well. This car has been on my radar since I was a kid. It might lead to somewhere I have needed to go for a while.
Thank you for all the encouragement. ArcticWolf (Paul), MustangRex, and 65slotcar (Bill) all have the same kit! I can't wait to see what each of us accomplish! It could be an epic group build here on the proboard!

If you want to go totally crazy
only $292.00 US, hell, buy 3 of them.

If you want to go totally crazy
only $292.00 US, hell, buy 3 of them. I bought the KA-0007 upgrade! It is the same upgrade only in KA packaging. Interesting that BBK would repackage and then add $90+ to the cost. I learned something today... I bought a "tutorial" from modelers sight (Mario Covalski) on detailing and building up the kit. The cost as $9.40 for the "tutorial". One big problem... it's not a "tutorial" in that he tells you how to do what he did... just that he did it and "here's a photo". Very deceptive and this is my first purchase from him. Will be my last unless I am missing something. And the photos are duplicated so it turns out to be a 68 page PDF when in reality, it should have been 34. Very disappointing. I am gleaning more info from a build log on pistonheads (for free) than I did from his "tutorial" at $9.40.

I just got my Magnifer kit today to go alone with the original Trumpeter one I have. I’ve only ordered the spare tire (via Ebay) as the wheels and tires from Icon Automotive are on back order for two months. I just saw someone post the MENG kit on a Facebook groups so I guess they are hitting the shores so to speak and they are for sale on Ebay for under $300 including shipping from China. I hesitate to order anything costing that much from half way around the world and with two kits already sitting untouched I’ll sit on the fence for a while until I hear the pros and cons on whether it’s worth twice as much.

Only one or two were helpful. You can glean more info from internet forums than you ever get from Mario. I'll try to dig out the ones I bought and share them with the group.

Yes, I have a Trumpeter kit, purchased as soon as they were originally released. Started it about 18 months ago, got tired of stripping so much chrome and put it away. Will get back to it someday, this thread might just get me going again!

I really enjoy doing the research on a race car to build a model as accurate as possible. I also noticed the tutorial on building the Trumpeter GT 40. Sometime pictures on the internet are great but hard to see detail. Came across a great reference video on youtube of the #8 Alan Mann GT40 . main structure is blue and wonder how many were like that . Different race teams most likely used different colors.
