When it comes to white metal, I'm partial to 5min or 30min epoxy. The problem I have with super glues is it doesn't have the strength, the very fast set up times, and build up. With 2 part epoxy, you have plenty of time to get the alignment "just right", remove any build-up with a q-tip moistened with Alcohol, very strong bond (like the JB Weld you are using) and can hold the weight. You can sand it, use it as a gap filler and prime/paint without any fuss. It's also great for the clear glass over gauges as well.
Second on clear for attaching photo-etch parts. Use clear enamel many times for glass, badges and scripts on car models.

As I am still working through the database of F-1 kits (almost done... about 100 kits left to put in), I am amazed as to the number of kits out there and yet we still find one that we all would love to build (case in point, the All American Eagle which I have done in plastic in 1/20th).
And now I know why MFH kits are so danged expensive! I can't imagine purchasing even one as I can buy several other large scale kits with that money. They look beautiful but I'm sure I could even make my wallet open that wide! LOL! Maybe for Christmas one day after I get all the camera lenses I need/want!
By the way, 2whl, what are you using to shoot your photos? The detail is great!
I will continue to watch this space! Thanks for sharing!

Expensive.....yes, but in a scale and subject matter that doesn't appear anywhere else. As I said on the PB thread, I've been selling off my stash of 1/24-1/25 kits to offset the MFH kits. My camera is a run-of-the-mill Sony DSC-W170. I take pics at the largest resolution, then crop them down to show the detail. I've also been trying to take the pics in ISO mode, which is a low light setting. It seems to be working for me. Thanks for the compliment. I used to be heavily into photography 40+ years ago. To the point that I rolled my own film, developed and printed it. All in B&W.

Pnance26, Just noticed in my re-read that you built a AAR Eagle in 1/20 scale. I've got their Indy car kit in 1/25 scale and will be biting the bullet on a Resin 1/25 Indy kit as well. Just never heard of a 1/20 scale plastic kit. The only one I'm familiar with is the MFH multi media kits. in 1/20 scale they went for $275 but are now discontinued, so I expect the prices for those kits to skyrocket. Joel

it is. Now I feel so much better. When I saw the post I panicked thinking that there was actually a 1/20 scale injected plastic kit of Gurney's Spa winning AAR Eagle. I've got that kit lined up for late this year.
BTW pnance26, You did an excellent job with the build. the finished model looks great.

2whl, the fuel injection unit looks fantastic. 1/12 scale sure does have it's advantages.

Bill, I'm way past squinting. My Optivisor has #5 lenses.
BTW, my 8 year old monitor was starting to show it's advanced age with start up issues plus a host of other Things. So it's time for a new monitor. I bought a 27 inch ACER from Micro Center and it was pure crap. It wouldn't even power up. So today I took another 2 1/2 hour drive, returned it and bought the monitor I really wanted: the MSI MAG321 31.5 inch curved gaming monitor. OMG it's like a whole new world. I sim race as my other hobby, and now it's close to what VR must feel like, but not quite. Joel

Thanks for looking in guys. 1/12th scale is the way to go for us geezers. Easier to see and bigger parts to drop with my fat fingers. LOL The fuel lines needed to be routed between the intake ports, but they would not stay in place while I tried to place the intake slides. Then I had an inspiration. I used the smallest shrink tubing I had to locate the fuel lines. Then once I placed the slides in place, I slid the tubing off. 1955

Great looking engine! That's a neat trick with the shrink tubing! For every problem there's a solution, especially if you look outside the box.

That solution actually came to me during one of my cycling workouts. With the throttle slides on, it was time to attach the linkage. Then I added the velocity stacks to protect them. 1990
