Adrian, Any online resources and links for me to start to look for a body shell and donor kit? Joel Hey Joel!
Sure, I get my Resin 1/24 bodies and Powerslide Decals from Mike's Decals - here is the link for you :
www.mikesdecals.com/resin-bodies-and-parts-c-2.html
He's got a pretty good selection of resin bodies, and it tells you which donor kit to purchase - the only down side is that alot of the Resin Bodies sell out really quickly and stay out of stock for awhile - you have to pounce on the one you want when you see it. He's a really good guy though and shipping is very quick and well packaged etc. He carries a bunch of decals from many different manufacturers as well, and I find his pricing is decent.
Let me know if you need a hand or if you want me to keep an eye out for anything in particular for you as I am on his site daily
Cheers,
Adrian

Adrian, Just took a good look at Mike's site, and I was truly blown away. I went there to get an idea about what resin bodies are available and the proper donor kit and decals. But what I found was a old kit resource heaven for racing cars, plus decals for them as well. So this little trip is going to turn into a rather large shopping spree with a min of 3 kits purchased for this and next year's build schedule as I only seem to bet about 4+ models built per year. But the kicker is that I'll have one Nascar build per year for sure as going through the decals was like a trip down memory lane. Jeff Gordon's Baby Ruth sponsorship just popped right out and grabbed me. There's a ton of SCCA Trans AM, IMSA GTO, winged sprint cars, and a nice selection of Cart cars ( I much prefer AMT over the not so great Revell kits). So my concentration on Tin Tops will be greatly modified for sure. Just remember that this is all your fault and who I'm going to blame everything on when my wife see the charge bills for sure. Joel

So thanks to Joel and I Mikes Decals is now out of stock .........
I've dealt with him for a long time, great guy by the way. Only for old Indycars you'd never normally find, and then Joel gets me on this Trans AM kick - I now have 5 of the damn things and growing - and Adrian shows up with his Nascar, so I've got 2 of those to build now......
I blame both of you!!

Paul, Guess I'll have to go stand in the corner in my room for the rest of the night.
I'm in the process of putting together an order for Mike. Just 3 or 4 kits, and of course the proper decals. I think that we should both put the blame on Adrian.

Mike does offer a nice price if you combine decals with the car kit.
I hope you weren't looking for the Roger Ward 62 Watson set, 'cause I just bought it. (I wish they made indy car kits in a bigger scale).
Paul
ps: sure we can blame Adrian, he's not here.

Paul, I've got my list down to 9 kits, but I've got a ways to go. 1st order will be just 3 kits. I'm going with 1 Nascar, 1 Cart, 1 one closed wheel road course. I'd love to add in a winged sprint car or two and of course decals. So many choices, so many decisions, so little time left.

JC, Honestly, I put very little value in pre-season open testing. Ferrari seemed to have little issues compared to Mercedes & customer engine teams. The more they kept on saying it was just nagging little issues, the more I'm convinced that reading between the lines said that Mercedes has some serious issues to deal with. All the teams complained constantly about the tires. They're running the 2019 spec tires without the higher pressures. Hamilton was one of the more vocal driver voices on tires.
Nothing will be put into context till the Australian race in 2 wks time: 3/15. More important is the constant not knowing if any races will be cancelled or postponed due to the Pandemic quickly spreading around the globe. I'm betting at this point that no one in their right mind wants to go to any country that has a serious and uncontained virus spreading like wild fire. Italy looks pretty bad right now as does a lot of the Asian races. Even transportation for the teams is becoming a nightmare as flights are cancelled, decreased airport workers, and airlines are laying off staff as well. This could very well be a very short F1 season.

Joel Unfortunately Joel I think you are spot on with this - this virus is now just begun to put doubt in everyone’s mind about traveling - and although anyone is about a thousand times more likely to catch a more dangerous strain of Influenza ( which I went through last month - 3 days in hospital) this is new, and it’s creating a very intense ‘fear factor’

Adrian, I keep saying that Paul and I will tell our wives that all these new charge bills are your fault. Not that it will matter much, but I'm running out of excuses after 40 years.
Glad that you made it out of the hospital in only 3 days with the latest strain of influenza. But this new virus is the papa of most flu viruses and presently has a kill ratio of 2%. Old folks like me and really young kids are more prone to fighting the good fight to say alive from what I've heard everyday on the news.
Right now my plans moving forward for this year will be 4 builds as I usually get done, and now one will be a Nascar/stockcar for sure. I'm sure that Mike will be glad to give me a senior discount once I tell him that you sent me.

Ferrari could abandon 2020 early if gap is too big
Ferrari says it could make an early switch to focus on its 2021 car if the gap to the front of the field is too big early in the season. The Italian outfit has admitted that it is behind its rivals as it heads into the campaign, and it is having to work on both its engine performance and aero package in a bid to recover. The effort to catch up comes against the backdrop of teams having to carefully balance how much resource they devote to this season and how much they want to throw at 2021. Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto said for now the team's focus remained on recovering lost ground this season, but hinted at turning off the 2020 development push early if the situation looks bleak after a few races. "How much will the 2020 catch-up affect the 2021 [project]? - that's certainly a good point," he said as pre-season testing came to a conclusion. "I think it's a compromise that we need to find out. I think we are very early in the season, and you cannot compromise the entire season itself. "So at the start of the season, we certainly keep pushing on 2020 as much as we can, because it's time for us to understand the car and the weaknesses. And hopefully, it is things that we can address as soon as possible. "If I see after a few races, and we will still understand that the gap is too big, then maybe it's a considerations that we can take into account. "But it's early stage right now. I think it's just few days of testing. I think there are things that we can address on the car, hopefully quite soon. So at the moment, we should keep our plan as it was for 2020/2021." Ferrari's rival Mercedes believes that teams need to be very careful in not switching their focus to 2021 too late, because doing so could result in them falling well behind. Team principal Toto Wolff said: "There's such a massive regulatory change for 2021, that balancing your allocation of resource will be crucial in terms of how much of your resource you're switching into the 2021 car. "Obviously, the learning and development slope is much steeper at the beginning. So if you get it wrong and you're months behind, you might be half a second behind. And this is a challenge which we have embraced in the past through two regulatory changes, and we love that one."

JC, Talk about double talk that makes no sense. Every team has a plan moving forward from 2019 once the regulations were finalized to be ready for 2021. No front running team is going to give up on the current season to move forward on 2021 development after just a few races. Maybe after the summer break if they're behind Mercedes, Red Bull, and even McLaren, I could see them start to ease off, but not totally abandon the rest of the season till it literally made no sense to continue to develop their current package.
Heck, I'm convinced that this is going to be a short season race wise as countries start to force cancellations do to the world wide viral Pandemic.
BTW, did you watch the Nascar race yesterday? once again the stands were nearly half full or half empty which depends on your point of view. They better start to look back to their roots as the new race fans aren't hard core Good Old Boys like they use to. Their either can't travel, in homes, or their time has come just like so many of the drivers that they idolized.
