I wish Ferrari wasn't trying to get around the tobacco brand ban by using Mission Winnow or whatever it is. MW is a "consulting group" whose main interest is the promotion of tobacco products and smoking programs, especially targeting new smokers. Last year, F1 banned their livery until it was pointed out that MW was now a major financial partner with Scuderia Ferrari as a stockholder.
The "Mission Winnow" name appears 19 times in the livery (four times on the front wing and four times on the rear wing alone)... I guess they understand that repetition is the soul of pedagogy. You cannot see the car from any angle without seeing the MW name or logo.
This is the kind of underhanded stuff that angers me. Ferrari has found that loophole so that tobacco can make its comeback.
If you can't tell, I am an anti-tobacco person.
Additionally, Kaspersky is a cyber "security" software developer from Russia. I don't think I need to elaborate. Eugene Kaspersky has ties to Russian intelligence and is considered one of the "oligarchs" of Russia.
One more sponsorship tidbit... I have seen "Richard Mille" on countless cars not just in F1 but other racing series. I wondered who or what that was...
Richard Mille is a Swiss based luxury watch manufacturer who signed a 10 year deal with McLaren (giving them visibility in F1 and now IndyCar or whatever they are called). They also have sponsorship deals with Alfa Sauber, and Haas Racing. Richard Mille also has sponsorship deals with Formula E, several racing venues, as well as golfing events and yacht racing.
Just one more... Jack & Jones on the Haas cars? That is a Denmark based clothing manufacturer targeting young men and their undergarment purchases. They are a part of Haas because of the connection to Kevin Maggnusen. They also have a women's wear line promoted by the wife of Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen.
And now you know more than you ever wanted, I'm sure!

Interesting how jacked-up they are in the rear. I assume they level out at speed, when the aero starts taking effect?

Red Bull started raising the rear of the car a few years back for some aerodynamic advantage I believe. Now nearly all the teams run this attitude on their car. |

The first thing I had noticed was the extreme Rake (Jacked Up Rear End) I had read an article on Racecar Engineering about this, Ferrari had said they had cured the Loose Rear end problem that all the teams suffered with last year. It looks like they added to the Rake thus allowing more usable down-force. The additional travel allows the elimination of the severe sparking and dragging on the track that was quite visible at every race. Hard to control a race car when its sliding on the track most of the time.. It also allows the car to maintain a more consistent ride height (Red Bull had been criticized about this for years), which also allows adjustments to roll, sway and other components to be more effective. There is a wholesale amount of changes to the cars this year, although not readily noticeable to the eye. I have been taking some time to compare the 2019 car to the 2020 car and will hopefully add more to this post in the next few days.. So far I like what I am seeing and the changes should (hopefully) allow closer racing and more overtaking.. Chris

I am desperately trying to like these cars. I know this is all function driven, but I'm struggling with the proportions. Either the tires are too small or the cars too long, but the side profile says delivery van to me rather than race car.

Can't stand the "new" look. They all look like they are missing part of the bodywork, in front of the "nerf bar" thingie on each side. Not truly open cockpit anymore, but at least they are still open wheel, unlike the Indy cars with their "rear fenders" and cockpit bubbles. Will watch a race or two and see how they perform but I'm rapidly losing interest in all forms of "modern" racing. Even our local dirt cars are ridiculously technical and over-priced.

I always look forward to the unveiling of the new cars and liveries for both F1 & Indy Car, as for me this is the 1st step towards the new racing season. The 1st F1 race is in 3 weeks time. Nothing drastic or really time consuming took place over the winter other then small modifications to correct issues from the 2020 season, as all the teams are focused on the major changes for the 2021 season. Most cars now feature both a narrower front nose with more divided sections to funnel air flow to certain areas of the undertray. Strange, but somehow HAAS seems to have basically the same nose as last year. A lot of the tweaks are to all those fences, and air directional pcs on the sides of the body, and most teams has drastically narrowed and reshaped the sidepods which I 1st noticed on the 2020 McLaren.
One thing always as bothered me, if one team comes up with these changes, how do most of the other teams seem to come up with them as well at the same time?
Honda has found more HP and Torque, so hopefully Red Bull, specifically Verstappen will be challenging both Hamilton and LeClerk for the championship from race #1. Personally I'd love to see Mad Max win his 1st F1 Championship this year.
pnance26, thanks for the info on those sponsors. I knew of Kaspersky, as I switched from them to Bitdefender when the US Gov't announced dropping them for those exact reasons. I didn't know that Mission Winnow was involved in the Tobacco Industry, yet can have their name plastered all over the Ferrari cars, and now I know why. Once again Ferrari must have pleaded for it to be allowed, as loosing them would mean that they would have to leave F1, or something to that effect.
I'm really looking forward to seeing just how many road racing series I can try to follow besides F1 & Cart, as even Australian Super Cars have their races on You Tube. Come to think of it, everything these days is on You Tube.
