Hi all. I've had this simple curbside kit of the obscure 2C for some time and I'm going to try to make a decent shelf model out of it.
I'm going to do from what I understand was an early version that still had the exhaust pipes coming up out of the bodywork and was possibly an updated A.
First I smoothed out the body and removed the molded in screen mesh.
I didn't like the wheels that came in the kit and mine was missing tires anyway so I pirated a set from a RevelloGram 2D kit then used some parts box rims to add a little offset.
Picked up this strainer at a discount store for the screen. Smallest mesh I could find. I'm in the sticks here so no LHS LOL! We'll see how this works out.

Ron, Great start to another of Jim Hall's iconic Chaparrals. I'll be following your build closely till you cross your finish line.

I think the original issue LS had metal versions of the same as HRM , Pony Toy had a great deal back in the 90's a Ford Gt40, Porsche 904 and a Chaparral 2c wrapped together from the factory for a ridiculous $25.00 !! but you had to go to Chinatown to get it. Pony Toy was the US importer of LS Kits. I still have the 904 which has awesome metal wheels, I built the 2C, and I sold the GT40 for more than I paid for all 3. it also had some great metal Halibrands. all of them had metal bits, Carbs, exhaust, mirrors, latches etc. each kit was different as to what it had.. Thanks for all the wheel info. Looks like good products. I'm making do with what I have here.
Quick update. Finished cobbling together the wheels. They should look good when I'm finished with them.
Got the screens cut and installed.
and a light coat of primer..
Thanks for looking. Comments always welcome.

Sorry to take away from your WIP Ron, just thought everyone would like to see them, so far its looking great, I like the cut out screen areas and screen size is perfect.. I wish I had done more on mine, but it is a very rare out of the box build , for me anyways!! Chris

Ron, The wheels really look quite good. But those screens you added came out simply perfect.
